Big Steem News: And It Wasn't The Splitting Of The WalletsteemCreated with Sketch.

in #busy6 years ago

In scanning my feed, I see a lot of people posting the news about the Steemit Inc splitting of the wallet from the social media site. This truly is big news and something Steemit Inc was working on for a while.

The reason for this is twofold. To start, it is a security feature. No longer will one be allowed to sign on to Steemit.com with anything other than the posting key. This is all that is needed for that site since there are no wallet features are located on a separate application. Anything having to do with the wallet will be redirected to Steemitwallet.com.

Another reason for this split is to speed up development. Steemit.com no longer has any token related code tied to it. Hence, it is able to make changes at a lower security level. This might sound like a step back but it is not. With it all tied together, any updates needed to be done only after it was determined the tokens were safe. Now, upgrades can take place quicker since the token code is not accessible through the website.

This is good news and should render more flexibility in the design of the site. We will see what comes from it but it is a good start.

The other piece of news that caught my attention was a new project. I love new applications being developed for the Steem ecosystem and there is one that was announced which will really help.

Developing commerce is crucial for blockchain technology. The idea of creating an alternative, decentralized system is great as long as there are useful things for people to do. Thus far, we are seeing a lack of commerce taking place using cryptocurrency in general.

Enter Steemtaskr.

Here we have a platform being created where people can pay for different services using STEEM. This is a basic function in the development of a Steem economy.

The platform is obviously in beta and a MVP design. However, you can see how it operates. People are able to post tasks they would like completed along with what they are paying. The nice part about this is there is a huge market for this. Think of how successful the Fivver program is.

What I like is that you can post both online and offline tasks. This is an important consideration as the ecosystem grows. For now, there are not a lot of Steemians in our physical community. If we can generate huge growth over time, this could change. Imagine posting a tasks of having your yard mowed or help cleaning out the garage. This could be paid for in STEEM.

For now, we will see mostly online tasks like designing logos or things of that nature. This could, however, be an entry way into Steem since those on the outside could post tasks meaning they would need to acquire some STEEM to pay for it.

The team is developing a token, the TSKR, which is on Steem-Engine. This will allow for one to pay the fees to the platform along with making the conversion to STEEM very easy.

The website is https://www.steemtaskr.com/.

Thus far, the development of commerce on the Steem blockchain is a bit slow. This is not surprising although it is starting to change. Having the ability to offer up tasks for STEEM is a big step. There are many businesses that take orders online, hence could take STEEM as payment, before shipping it out. One thing that popped into my head is how local printers are now being put out of business because people order business cards and stationary onilne and have it printed somewhere overseas. Applications like this are ideal for this platform.

Another thing that came to mind as I was reading this is the @wherein application. This is an app that is looking to blend the online and offline communities in China. Through their geo-tagging, they aim to create local associations among different people. This platform could really merge well with the idea of tasks-for-STEEM.

Each day, it gets more exciting around here. We have Steemit Inc making progress with some of the back end stuff while applications developers keep bringing out more things that are part of our ecosystem.

My excitement really grows when I think about what things are going to look like 2-3 years from now. We are going to see a massive explosion at some point which will really increase the value of this ecosystem. The network effect is unavoidable.

The road for Steem definitely looks bright.

with the price of freelancer plus on upwork going from $10.99 to $14.99 yesterday with great timing this really could be something if they picked up and ran with it over the next few months.

I don't really understand the implications and what I need to do

Exciting indeed! I have to think of ways I can provide services as well to earn more Steem to stake! A great opportunity for many globally to earn as well!

It really is a great way for global earnings. Think of the possibilities if people all over the world are able to provide their services and perform tasks for STEEM.

This would really create a use case for the token.

Thanks for the heads up. An easy way of spending steem is just what we need to grow.

Yea steemtaskr also got my attention.

Finally we have something in this direction.

It's so basic ^^ Im really wondering why we had nothing similar until now..

Maybe because working on the steem blockchain is "Schwarzarbeit" (illegal workin in german)

Working on the steem blockchain to my knowledge in germany would be freelancer work (selbstständige Arbeit) that you obviously have to pay normal taxes on (Einkommenssteuer, evtl Umsatzsteuer oder andere). But taxes are still a complicated topic and @taxguy can help better than I do

Was eine Kriminalisierung

Posted using Partiko Android

Naja https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schwarzarbeit

Funktioniert genauso ;)

I agree. I think it is a big step in the right direction.

A simple idea but one that could really begin the process of developing a true STEEM economy.

The wallet caught me off guard yesterday. I had to double check that I didn’t click a phishing link. Thanks for confirming that it’s real.
