SeanyTravels (Japan) #24 Tenkaippin Ramen Lunch and Visit to Asakusa Kaminarimon 浅草雷門 !
We couldn't wait to get around to see more of Tokyo! It's the second day and we were up earlier than expected.
We took these photos daily as there was a full size mirror in the lobby
Today's plan was to eat something good (very easy to accomplish in Japan), visit Asakusa and figure out transport for the other days.
We took this photo to serve as a landmark to remember. It was very visible on our route back home. Even 3 years later, today, I still remember its purpose, and how many times we walked under it.
For lunch we went to a nearby Tenkaippin 天下一品 Ramen joint. It isn't one of my favourites, but we were quite hungry, and their shop was rather empty at that time. I've always remembered them for having thick broth, somewhat of a Salted-Egg yolk-esque taste. Is it really salted-egg yolk though? I'm not so sure. It's the kind of broth that you either like or hate.
The one on the left is visibly the thick broth noodles.
After a hearty lunch, we went to take the train! There was a nice Japanese fan design at the station we saw.
Boarding the train!
We got off at Asakusa station, and for everyone's who has been here before, you must have also wondered, what is that golden spiky thingy that kinda looks like poop. It's actually one of the HQs of Asahi.
From here you can also see the Tokyo Sky tree!
We walked to the front gate of Asakusa! It's almost impossible to get a clear photo here without anyone unless you come at night. Everyone wants to take photos here, it's absolutely crowded.
Walking along the tourist shopping street. There's many (overpriced) food and items, souvenirs etc. I have actually bought t shirts here before in 2011. Expensive, but at that time I just thought it looked nice, so i got it.
You can take a relaxing walk nearer to the back as there are fewer people. For those who read my 2011 post, I came here as well, and talked about my 'feeding pigeons' experience.
No one really walks sideways all the way here. It's not located too far off the main street, and there are a still a few famous food (melon-pan) stalls here. I did a muscle up at the jungle gym! It was quite chilly at this time of the year, so I could feel the strain as I hovered above.
In the next post, let's take a night walk around Akihabara!

There is also a nice shopping street beside here, did you explore? Got a Donki branch with a big aquarium at the entrance. And further in, there is a small themepark. Think was the oldest themepark in Tokyo or something.
ah i didnt know about that! I think Ive only walked around this area of asakusa, and more recently some nice looking shrine. I haven't visited the donki around here. Will note doen the theme park also and visit next time!
