Photography : Differences Leopard, Lion, Jaguar, Tiger, Puma, Cheetah In The Big Cat Family

There are probably many who know the Family of the Big Cat and its types. The term big cat that is not a biological classification is used to distinguish species larger than others. Despite the huge differences in the size of the various kinds of cats that are very similar in structure and behavior. here are some big cat families:

1. Leopard

Leopard (Panthera Pardus) is one of four big cats. This animal is also known as the Dahan Tiger because of its ability to climb. At first, people thought that the Leopard is a hybrid of lions and tigers. so the name "leopard" appears. Among early European researchers, the Leopard of Java was the Identity Fauna of West Java and included endangered animals in Indonesia.
Large leopard with a length of one to two meters These species generally have a yellow-brown fur with black spots. Black spots on the head are smaller. Spread of Leopard is on the Continent of Asia and Africa. This species was considered to have many species (more than 30 subspecies) found in various habitats.
Some subspecies of the Leopard like the Endangered Beetle Tiger from Indonesia, the Black Tiger. In general, Leopards are evaluated as low risk in the IUCN Red List.

2. Lion

The lion or scientific language of panthera leo belongs to the felidae family (big cat). Lions are animals that live in groups. Usually consists of one male and many females. This group then keeping his territory. Lion weight no more than 150 Kg (Female) and 225 Kg (Male). He is 10 to 15 years old in the forest. The lioness is much more active than the male lion. Now the habitat is very small in Africa and partly in India.

3. Jaguar

Jaguar is part of a large cat family belonging to the Panthera type. This animal is the third wild cat after the Tiger and Lion and is also the largest cat in the western part. These animals include Northern Mexico crossing Central America to Paraguay and Northern and Southern Argentina. Many think Jaguars are the same as the Leopard, but they are different. If carefully observed there are different totol motifs of both animals. The spotted jaguar has a small dot in the middle, while the totol motif on Leopard is empty (with no point in the middle). Tototl on the jaguar is bigger, fewer in number. In terms of physical also different, Jaguar bigger and sturdier in comparison with Leopard. Jaguar has a length of 1.6 - 1.8 meters, weighing up to 160 Kg. While Leopard has a length of 91 - 1.9 meters with a weight of 90 Kg.

4. Tiger

The tiger is known as the largest cat, the tiger is basically similar to a lion. Although slightly heavier different subspecies of tigers also have different characteristics as well. Among the species that still survive the smallest Sumatran tiger while the largest Siberian tiger. Loreng on most tigers varies from brown to black.

5. Puma

Puma or Cougar or Lion Mountain is a mammal belonging to a group of big cats. Puma is commonly found in the Americas. Puma has an identical that is closer to a cat than a lion. Puma food is usually Deer, Fish, Squirrels and others. Puma attacks his prey by ambushing (abrupt attack) because his stamina is not that great so he has to save energy equally with Lions and Cats.

6. Ceetah

Cheetah (Acinonyx Jubatus) is a member of the cat family (Felidae) who hunts prey with speed and is not a sneaky or clustering tactic. This animal is the fastest animal among the land animals that can reach 110 km / h in a short time to 460 meters with acceleration 0-100 km / h in 3.5 seconds. faster than some supercars. Cheetah is also known as the most efficient predator on planet earth. Chase and pounce on prey only when the prey is within reach.
