🥞Crepes🥞

Finally came Maslenitsa, and on the very first evening I prepared a pile of crepes.
For the first time I cooked it without eggs, and I will say they turned out not worse than those that I ate all my life.

Maslenitsa (Russian: Мaсленица, Ukrainian: Масниця, Belarusian: Масленіца; also known as Butter Week, Crepe week, or Cheesefare Week) is an Eastern Slavic religious and folk holiday, celebrated during the last week before Great Lent, that is, the eighth week before Eastern Orthodox Pascha (Easter). Maslenitsa corresponds to the Western Christian Carnival, except that Orthodox Lent begins on a Monday instead of a Wednesday, and the Orthodox date of Easter can differ greatly from the Western Christian date.

🌟Ingredients:

✴️ 150 grams of wheat flour
✴️ 300 ml of coconut milk (any vegetable milk is suitable)
✴️ 150 ml of water
✴️ baking powder / hydrated soda pinch
✴️ sugar (I also added honey)
✴️ 3 tbsp vegetable oil (sunflower, corn, coconut, I used olive oil)
✴️ salt

🌟 Preparation: ⠀

Mix all ingredients with a blender or whisk until smooth. Give a little insisting. Bake in a frying pan at medium temperature.

I fried them with utmost care. The output turned out to be sweet crispy crepes. From above I poured a caramel-chocolate sauce, which I had prepared before. Decorated with raspberries, blackberries and almond kernels🥞

It is super curious, some days ago a russian friend told that she was celebrating Maslenitsa, at first i didnt understood but i can tell you, she sent me pictures with a table full of crepes and tea.

To me as a Latin American is super curious this kind of celebration. Make crepes as a main dish, sounds totally delicious. I even made the mistake to tell her happy Maslenitsa, she told that it was cute but that usually you dont say that, jaja

Delicious tradition, would love to spend next Maslenitsa with this friend in the years to come.

This post is super interesting and that pic looks awesome ! Post more often about this cultural celebrations!
