After the Scandal - My entry for the 77 Words Short Story Contest
After the scandal erupted, I left school and walked home through the snow. I kept breaking through a slushy mess as I trudged along crying and freezing.
I remembered the student who told me as I left, “Everyone hates me here too, so we should be friends.”
Later when we traveled together in Europe, I realized people hated her because she was crazy. By then it was too late, and I was stuck with her until Portugal.
