73 Rep & 12,000 followers and Why it means nothing
Hell, I´ve even made some achievement/milestone posts braggin about how I reached certain followers, reputation or something similar and there´s nothing wrong with that, after all, in one of my posts from September 2017 I talk about the importance of celebrating things like this. After all, it´s not easy to reach certain reputation or certain number of followers and we should be proud of our little achievements.
But don´t be fooled, follower/reputation milestones, while they may be a positive thing to see in our Steem profile, they mean nothing if we are not community focused and mantain certain quality level in our posts, if we don´t strive to be the Best version of yourself that you can be. In that link I include, I talk about how the only person we should be comparing ourselves, is our self the day before.
I don´t care if other people uses bidbots to increase its reputation or if some other dudes grow their follower base faster than me. What matters is that I focus in being the best Steemians I can be and, let´s be honest, that has nothing to do with followers or reputation; I know Steemians with Rep 58 that care more about the platform than some users with a 70 rep.
The truth is, yout post rewards, the ammount of comments you get, the meaningful relations you build here, have little to nothing to do with your reputation or amount of followers.
What I can advice you is, celebrate your milestones, but don´t think for a second that these numbers will provide you the success (whatever that may be for you) we´re all looking for.
Engage with other people, leave meaningful comments, participate in discord/steem.chat group chats, get involved in a community you find interesting, but most importantly, be the best version of a Steemian you can be.

Ciertamente como expresas en tu articulo los números de seguidores o reputación no son la muestra del éxito, pero si puede servir como herramienta para medir nuestro avance en steemit, claro esta que sin ofender a nadie en ocasiones me he topado con usuarios que tienen + 70 reputacion y sus publicaciones no dejan mucha enseñanza por así decirlo.
Por otro lado me he topado con usuarios de reputación 30 que sus post, no solo son de provecho para otros usuarios sino que ademas el diseño y empeño que le dan es excelente, lastimosamente bajo mi criterio, muchas veces talentos como ese no son tomados en cuenta, porque muchos solo se dedican a leer y apoyar a los "Exitosos" esto no es malo como tu mismo dijiste. Se vuelve malo es en el momento donde dejamos de valorar la calidad.
Se que soy un usuario novato, pero con ganas de aprender, mejorar para poder compartir contenido de calidad y provecho para otros usuarios, de esa forma estoy seguro que algún día conseguir verdaderos seguidores ¿Por que les digo verdaderos seguidores? Porque en mi perfil me salen 229 seguidores, pero cada articulo que realizo tiene un promedio de 30 votos jajaja, claro esto hasta los más grande les pasa, pueden tener más de 5000 seguidores pero les aseguro que solo el 10% son verdaderos seguidores.

Most 1st gen accounts with >12K followers are from back in the day when there were more active users and I think most of them are dead followers (many of mine too of course).
I've noticed most steemians my gen (2nd gen) are stuck around the 1-2K follower mark....
As to rep... same level of meaninglessness! However I quite enjoy watching mine tick upwards for some reason.
I guess we just need another front end that displays alternative metrics. If any at all?!?
I agree that chasing numbers is a silly approach to any endeavor... better to act with integrity!

I think there´s a webpage to see dead followers, it would be cool to find out the number of dead followers I have.
Yeah, second and third generation have very few people with 4k+, weirdly my followers exploded in January 2018 when I got my delegation, I wonder why xD
Yeah of course we like seeing our rep go up, I do, but ultimately that´s for our ego cause it doesn´t help on anything haha.
Got to agree with all this, how many are going to stick around when it dives below 50c. I think it will happen soon, lets see who doesnt really care about the money and carries on.
I guess we are seeing it now! Let´s make sure to take notes to support these people when the prices recovers.
kind sir I would like to bet a million dollars that I will not leave steemit even if prices go below 50c. I am not here for money after all. My bank account is...I cannot agree more - if all our followers would vote, the post would be worth more, but like facebook and twitter and so on, some people are just obsessed with following or saying the are followed - weird...
One of the things we want to address on the onboarding programm is exactly that, to explain the difference between mainstream social media and the DApps around the steem blockchain.

I totally agree with you.
Stats don't directly measure your influence/achievement rather it is your quality content and relationship building with others and maintaining that quality matters.
BTW Congrats! to achieve your milestone. Keep Building The Steem Community!

Rep can be bought and a lot of followers are just dead account or resteem services!
My posting values did increase but I would preferred that also the number o comments would have increased with the same %, which did not happen!

Oh man those resteem services... they are just worhtless because most of the people following those accounts don´t engage or vote or are bots :/
Getting a lot of comments always brings us up, I know I should answer more of the comments I get and I´m doing that exactly, been replying to comments for two hours now haha. Thanks for the comment man!
I try to write one or post per day, and a few times during the day I do browse my feed and try to comment as much as possible!
Not only because people stay motivated by genuine comments but also because it could help them when steem-ua or actifit drops by! Both do have an algorithm in which the engagement on a post is important!

"Wow 73 and counting, the nomadic legend reaches a brilliant milestone" this should be the title of your post because the content is so much of the harsh reality you portrayed here on steemit, reputations can be bought, yes, but the platforms knows the people who attained their reputations by sheer hardwork, you're one of them my friend.
