How to determine if I am a minnow or not?
Hello Steemians,
Had you already know the Steemit ranks? Are you a minnow? Dolphin? Orca? Whale? or Redfish? but don't be a Deadfish!
Minnow are the little fish in the ocean. They are often used as bait in catching big fish or whales or shark!
Here in Steemit, a lot of minnow that are being prone to frustration in terms in earning here. Minnow are the low SP holders.
Check you current status here: SteemitBoard
- Redfish are those who have 499 Steem Power and less
- Minnow are those who have 500 to 4,999 Steem Power!
Beware of the Deadfish
Don’t let yourself to be surprised by the dead fish,
If you become inactive for more than 7 days, SteemitBoard will transform you immediately into the dead fish, regardless of your current level!
Inactive, for SteemitBoard it means that:

- you have not written any comment

Not quite accurate but close
The above statement would be true if 1 Million Vests = 500 STEEM, but that's NOT how it is.
As first, the value of VEST per STEEM is not fixed and it constantly fluctuates!
Once upon a time maybe it was 1M Vest = 500 Steem, but as I said, it's not how it is at the moment (and for quite some time by now).
At the time when I'm typing this, the rate is around
1M Vest = 494.229 STEEM or Steem Power
(On the below screenshot is current accurate value of STEEM/SP per 1M VESTs.)
Accordingly, it means that:
- Red Fishes are members with up to 494.229 (own) Steem Power in holding, while
- Minnows are members whose (own) Steem Power is higher than 494.229 and up to 4,942.286 SP

But what is still not accurate in yours is that...
One (1) Vest IS NOT = 494,.................... but 1 Million Vests = 494,............
And that's a HUGE DIFFERENCE!
However, 1M Vest is not exactly 500 SP for a very long time by now!
well, to get the current value of vest to steem I should post it's converter,

Hmmm... - I can somewhat agree with you that nobody cares about those levels (at least when the level names are in question). The possible effect that each level brings with itself (with SP in holding) would be a different story.
But now I'm a bit curious, why did you make after all the whole post around some topic that nobody cares about (as you said)???
because if nobody cares, I still care about it, being a redfish in steemit. and thats it.

a plankton is what they call to new users in the early days in steemit. Only in May 2017 they introduce the redfish since plankton is not a fish but a crucial source of food to a fish and whales,

Plankton is a term used on the Busy platform/app (busy.org) for the same level of users that Steemit Board calls Red Fish.
In other words, and inside the Steemit ocean Plankton = Red Fish 🙂
thanks for your correction but 1M vest will vary from time to time, last i check it was 489 Steem power, I don't know also why it change, maybe by current prices also affect this.
yes, busy org used the plankton rank because it was made in early days in steemit and redfish rank was only introduced in 2017,
