I wrote in a post two days ago that I can hardly wait for the fishing season to be officially opened. The time has come. May 22 was my first fishing day with some good catches.

I usually don't stay in just one place when I am after some good catches, but today I really didn't need to walk to much one the shores of the Danube. I used a deck that belongs to a friend of mine, to whom I gave a helping hand in building it, for my catchy casts.

The type of fish that I was searching for and catch is called ASP(Aspius aspius) and doesn't swim in very deep water because it feeds with small fish that usually swim around the shores. After the spawn the water doesn't seem to be poor in such fish and the way this ASP feeds with them is absolutely spectacular.

It chases them and jumps out of the water like crazy. Probably that's the reason why it is my favorite. It is a great show to watch them and to catch em also. You simply don't have time to get bored or discouraged to go home with no picture taken.

Usually the best time for catching it is early in the morning after the sun rises or in the afternoon when the sun is not that powerful anymore and the water is pretty calm and clear. Although it was a bit windy today, there weren't too much waves making casting and retrieving a child's play.

First spot that I chose brought to me a tinny bass that I didn't even took a picture of it, but after going on the deck the situation changed. I guess it was due to the fact that I could cast more sideways parallel with the shore which is the best technique in this type of fishing from my experience.

The bait was a golden blinker size 3 that was produced in France and I am using for at least two seasons now. I've tried some others also, but till now its the most "attractive". In about half an hour I caught about 7 of them between 0.5 and 2kg that got back in the water after took the pictures. Hopefully I will catch them some other time also.

In conclusion, the wait has been paid off and it seems we're gonna have a promising year. I will post further some other catches and probably make a fishing journal here on Steemit as I enjoy much fishing. Hope you liked the photos and stay tuned for more.
