My New Christmas - Product Idea to Sell on Peerhub

in #business8 years ago (edited)

Stage 1:   Brainstorming...I am typing out every  this moment , concept and ideas come to my mind on bringing new products to sell on Peerhub.

Feel free to give me feed back as I type this out now.

Product Idea:

3D STEEMIT logo and the word, STEEMIT made into  3 demesional objects.

Look of the object will be similar design as this below photo. BUT, it will be the word, "STEEMIT"

I will combine these two by attaching our Steemit logo (much smaller) on right top side corner of the word object.

Attach a flat plastic base so it will stand up by itself.

The smallest sized one could be made into a key chain.

Design Idea:

3D Steemit logo

Use already designed free designed logo

I need to design out few more images of STEEMIT

The main material to use to make 3D STEEMIT object is plastic resin using 3D Printer.

Need to figuire out how many feet and what colors of the plastic resin wire  to use and buy.

See the 3D printer I will be using...

I was facinated by what I will be able to create with this 3D printer as I watched it print out 3D object layer by layer.

The size of the 3D STEEMIT object:

For the key chain

1\2" deep × 1" high × 2" long

For the self standing ones:

3/4" deep × 1" high  3" long

1" deep x 1.5 high × 4" long

Any bigger sized object would require a bigger 3D printer than shown above. Possible to take special order for the bigger sizes than above mentioned sizes.

I could have them made by outside 3D printing companies.

How my Steemians-customers would display the 3D logo object?

1)  Place it on the desk at the office.

2)  Show it off inside of their cars on the dash.

3)  Mount on the back of a bike or motorcycle.

4) The key chain carried.

Next, make a protype of 3 sizes mentioned above.

I need to find out after making the protype:

1)  Need resize bigger or smaller for estetic look and functionality?

2) Adjust the final colors?

3)  How cost effective to us the 3D printer?

4)  Better material to use instead of the plastic?  Use wood or metal better or use all 3 materials to offer more variety?

The most cost effective maybe using wood since I already know how to make this out of wood with my wood working skill.

Pricing:

1) Retail price for 3 sizes.

Normally, I cannot charge any price I want since there is always the market price depending on the demand and supply. From running my own retail business, I know that it is best to sell products around  $5 to $20 for an easier selling. So, I will keep this product less than $20 each for sure for the above 3 sizes.

Of course, give 15% discount when customers buy more than 1 item.

2)  Calculating the mark up of the products.

I would want to mark up at least double of the total product cost. I like to have a products I can mark up high as 3x. Example of 3x marked up was when I sold the replica sunglasses which cost me wholesale $3 and sold for $9.

The best plateform to sell this?

Peerhub

I need look more in depth how to sell on Peerhub after signing up for an account.

Finally, I would accept feed back from you to help me bring this product to our market place.

Who wants be my first customer?

E book? What do u mean?

Sell ebooks. Just guessing I'd say 90% of the work has already been done. Make e-books for sale on peer-hub and accept steem as payment.

Also CAD files, as you say, for 3D printers is an excellent idea. Perhaps contact some of the folks who are active in the field. I used to follow Thingverse before they became censors and banned anything to do with guns. They own their own site and can do as they please but I try to avoid Nazis when I can. So I dropped them from my feed reader. I'm sure there are others like them.

PeerHub is just SCREAMING for digital products. Get in on the ground floor. Be a pioneer.

hint: Amazon is going head to head with big retail (walmart etc) and kicking ass. Do you really want to compete with Amazon and try to sell. 'stuff'?Not saying that you shouldn't but face reality.

Thanks for the e-book idea. What subject matter and where would i get the articles n contents. You have the source?
I am not the best writer to produce my e-book content.

You don't have to provide the content. That's the whole idea of peer-hub isn't it? You just provide the store front and take care of the fiddely bits. (handle the financial transaction mostly.) Check out Amazon Kindle as an example, there are others. They have literally millions of titles that they receive for free. It doesn't cost amazon anything. They provide a marketplace, a digital store front for the author, take the money from the customer, and pay the author. Naturally Amazon takes a percentage for their trouble. 25% I think...off the top. They pay the author three months later. The author takes care of almost everything else. It's actually a pretty good deal for authors (I have books there). I know of some authors who make tens of thousands of dollars...a month. Some few have become millionaires, just from selling their e-books on Amazon. The biggest problem for authors is gaining recognition. There are literally MILLIONS of authors competing .

THAT is where peer-hub has a potential niche. Sell e-books for steem.

It won't be easy I suspect but if you do so you'll have your own unique niche in the marketplace.
The same thing could be done for any other digital product. I'm pretty sure a lot of Steemians make music. Provide a market place for them to display their music.
Also podcasts, video's (a steem powered U-toob), various plans.
You might specialize in anthologies of steemit posts that have paid out past the second time. After 30 days have gone by the author of a post doesn't receive any money. If you provide a storefront for them to compile and post an anthology, that's more steem for everyone.

(whisper if the steem is never converted to USD does the IRS have any need to know about it? Does Second Life or any others like them have to tell the IRS anything? Just saying)

As luck would have it I have an e-book posted on Peer-hub already.
Ride the Lightning and The Yggdrasil Highway Saga. I'd LOVE to be able to take payment in Steem instead of Amazon referral as I do now.

The possibilities are endless. I wish you well.

Timeless content vs Timely Content
A golden opportunity for peer-hub just sitting there.
You can take advantage of it and perhaps save Steemit from going out of business, while at the same time boosting your business immensely.

Provide a Best of Steemit section. Sell for Steem.

Glad that the logo which I've created was useful ;)
Upvote from me

Yes, you are welcome and thank you. Will u be able to make the logo much smaller(10x) and attach to the word, STEEMIT on the top right corner for me and send to me?

Sure, no problem

Can you make a simple sketch (very simple) for me to understand better what U want?

Ok, I will. Sketch out.

Hi, interesting idea. Just wanted to point out that you don't have image sources for your post. Having image sources and correctly formatted text and citations will increase your chances to be promoted by various curation trails.

I recently started to work as a curator for the Steemtrail project, taking care of the “business” category. As more moderators will join in, there will also be subcategories, like “business/trading”, “business/bitcoin” or “business/marketing”. Thank you! Your efforts will help Steemit become clearer and stronger.

Thanks. Photo source given. Forgot.
