The story of a child bullied.

in #bullying7 years ago

There was always a fear when you open the door and look into the bedroom, the fear was simple.

Would they be alive?

I don't know what happened to that happy child that was so full of life but he disappeared and was replaced with someone that couldn't cope with life, it seemed it had all become too much for him. To watch your child drift away and isolate himself, to draw back from his friends was hard but how can you stop it happening?
This is the true face of the effects of school bullying, a bright light struggling to stay alight and despite everything you try it just gets more dim. Despite all our support we can't do anything and actual help from specialists, people trained to help just isn't there. The school wanted to bury this as they don't want to face up to the problem and admit they had a problem. The bully's got a ticket and a free ride while our son was collateral damage in protecting the school reputation. It's a story that is played out all over that a child bullied is left to deal with the mental fall out of their experience, years of being unable to cope with being around people while those who bully continue with their lives. Often though, the child that is bullied they can't cope and a life ends early, all that promise lost.

This isn't a true story , yet it is. This is the story of parents around the world who lose their child, a bright and beautiful light. It is the story of how a schools reputation is worth more than a life, how sweeping bullying under the carpet so the bully's are not punished but go on to live their lives, and how parents walk up to their child's bedroom in dread each day.

This is the story of a child's life destroyed, their mental health in pieces and seeing no way forward into the rest of their life.

Especially in the tender and sensitive years of development, kids who face bullying retrieve in their shells, and begin to lose their confidence bit by bit. There should certainly be major consequences for bullying.

It's the hardest thing in the world.

From both sides of that coin <3

Appears simply real but pathetic..tye world need us all...lets fight for the right of all.ln pursuit of happiness..upped

Thank you for sharing this story. It needs to be told. All too often the schools wish to protect their precious image and reputation at the expense of a child's life. Parents need to advocate for their children. Teachers who witness bullying need to speak out. Authorities need to be more sensitive to the needs of the victim. Nothing will change unless we stand up for the victims...

How sad - and frightening - that this is so true. Not to take away from your story, but bullying happens to seniors as well. I lived with it for over a year, and moving this July was in large part to get away from my downstairs neighbour - a woman who bullied me mercilessly. Those who are most vulnerable and least equipped to deal with bullies are seniors, the disabled and the young. It's so very heartbreaking to hear of so many young people who are bullied without hope of a champion to prevent their light from being snuffed out at such a young age. We as communities need to be aware, to stand up for and with victims of bullying - and the consequences to the perpetrators of bullying need to be severe.

I'm glad to hear you moved away and escaped this loathsome woman and hope your life is much better now.
