We are not on steemit.chat as @buildawhale, it is a scammer, beware!
If you have been contacted by @buildawhale on Steemit.chat asking for 7 SBD for an upvote, it is a scam. In fact, if anyone contacts you on Steemit.chat asking for money for an upvote, 99.99999999% chance it's a scam.
This is an ongoing problem with steemit.chat as anyone can create accounts under any name that is not used. Another popular scam is to offer to increase your rep in exchange for your active key.

That can happen if there are really busy windows. It doesn't happen often but it does during busy times. I recommend using the Bid Tracker to find out if it is a busy window or not.
So what now, I lost my SBD just like that? It's not even $2.9.
There are risks of that happening, it doesn't happen often and depends on what other people bid in the same window.

That sounded real fishy to me.

Then I got a refund for 'bid too low'
Then I sent again in hopes of the bid being high enough in the next round, but did not get a refund for it, nor a vote.
You can check for the link yourself in your wallet and in your voting records.
Refund sent for 0.500 SBD.
spent me the other day ... one asked me to send him an amount for an upvote of 20 ... distrust and I told him to give me the upvote first and I sent him more quantity than he asked ... he said no and he cut the chat
