Some more boulders in Central Park
Some more boulders in Central Park
This is a post for Boulder Sunday hosted by @shasta,
Before @shasta started this challenge I have to admit I had not really been noticed boulders and even once said to him I had not seen many of them in the places I go but since then I have noticed there are many of them around and have done a few Boulder Sunday posts and this week I will share some more boulders I have come across while walking around Central Park.
There are many boulders all through the park in all kinds of sizes, this one is quite large as you can see with the runner in the background

And some are quite small, such as this next one with the bird sitting on it

And lets go for a bigger one again with this one, and if you notice the guy walking by, you may be wondering what he is carrying, this is a common site you see in the city, there are fines in the city if you walk a dog and don't clean up after it, and that's what he has done with his little bag which he will deposit in a trash can when he gets to one.

And I will finish with this medium sized boulder with the plants trying to take it over.

What beautiful boulders. I always wonder if this is what the rest of Manhattan would have looked like if it had been left in its natural state and didn't have skyscrapers built on top of it!
I used to wonder the same but apparently a lot of the features in the park were brought in from other areas as one article I read said it’s amazing how natural Central Park looks when so much of it was created by man and not nature
I think the boulders are part of the landscape, although the lakes and ponds are man made, and probably much of the rest of it!
Yes i do believe you are right it makes sense that he designed the park around them
Thanks for the resteem Appreciated
Great sized boulder in the park. They add to the landscape and never wear out or have to be painted. 😊
Ohh yes they last forever and a day don’t they and very low maintenance 😎👍😎
I didn't know about Boulder Sunday! I'll have to look into this. I'm a huge fan of boulders, and I go indoor bouldering every Friday :)
I didn't realise that Central Park had so many boulders! One thing I love about boulders is that they retain heat, which makes them nice to sit on on a hot day. I particularly like the photo of the bird perched on a boulder.
She started the tag not to long ago its a cool tag to mix up what I post occasionally joining it, Have noticed that most boulders do retain heat nicely and are good for sitting on
I haven't heard of indoor bouldering, what is that?
Indoor bouldering is what I'm doing in my profile photo! It's like climbing on a climbing wall, but the wall is not as high and the floor is soft and bouncy, so you don't have to use a rope or harness. Also the routes are more complex than climbing routes.
OK thanks for the explanation, I did outdoor rock climbing when I was younger, but have never tried the indoor walls or boulders so I didnt know about the indoor bouldering
I can recommend it! It's a lot of fun and great exercise.
I may just have to try it sometime

Lovely shots of central park @tattoodjay it's always amazing to me how much larger it is to Boston's Boston Common and Public Garden, both places I love to walk in and have been lucky enough to live quite near, but it is like a small back garden compared to the immensity of the Central Park! Great rocks and pathways.
Thanks for your visit,, Central Park is huge and so nicely laid out and well maintained I always love visiting there, I have never been to Boston Commons, but I hope to visit there when I move to MA next year :)

Funny how you see.... .but don't see things till someone else brings them to your attention.
Yeah that is s true and I thought I was so observant, but clearly, I need to still work on being more observant ;)
Central Park has so much to offer. Material for many of the competitions, looks like it could be found in this park
Ohh yes for sure, I have so many shots still to edit and share of all kinds of sights in the park, some no doubt will wait till next winter when I am not getting out taking many photos and then I will dig into my archives for shots I never got around to editing
