Pix2pix Or Pix2horror?

Hello everyone!

So today I found a website that is super amusing, and slightly disturbing. The site is called affinelayer.com and it uses a web tool called Pix2pix. Pix2pix uses Tensorflow, which is an open source neural network supplied by Google.

What is Pix2pix exactly?

It is a neural network that learns from looking at lots and lots of images, and then uses those images to create a somewhat realistic picture based on lines that you draw. It is much easier to show you, than to explain. So, here, take a look:

This one was called "edges2shoes" and it seemed to do exactly that.

If you have some knowledge of how to draw the object it will be turned into, it will look a little bit more believable. You can check out the examples on the site.

Here is a boot that I tried drawing:

Now, the next one can get a bit creepy sometimes:

Edges2cats. Yup, you heard me right. This thing turns any shape you draw into a cat. I didn't go to crazy with it, but you can make some pretty horrifying looking cats...

Is this a cat, or a hamster? xD

I also tried the edges2handbags.

This one actually looks pretty cool. It looks kind of like petals?

The facades generator was pretty awesome.

Not only was it awesome, but it was one of the more detailed image rendering tools. You can place anything, anywhere you want, and it turns into a quite believable building.

You thought edges2cats was creepy?

It gets worse. You might have nightmares after playing around with this one. This generator turns any lines or shapes you draw... into a human face. Or, kind of human face, I guess...

Creepy, but awesome, right?

I'm sure there will be more of these to play around with in the future, and they will probably get more and more interesting as the neural net gets better. I'm looking forward to future fun, and nightmares! I hope you enjoyed my examples.
