Thanx for the compliment, but to be honest it is not as bad as it seems ;-) There are a lot of great people in the movement who are precise thinkers and are well informed.
Why exactly there are many people in the movement that feel attracted to irrational and unscientific thinking is a mystery to me. A feeble attempt to explain this phenomenon could be, that believing in peace for some people serves as a replacement for religion and the need to connect with something larger than oneself. And as we know, religious believes and rational thinking do not have that much in common. Well, but as I said, that is pure guessing :-D
My belief in peace is not derived from any spiritual or whatever source, but the simple insight into the general law, that you should treat others in the way you want to be treated.
I totally know what you mean that ignorant people are harmful to the movement as a whole and whenever I can, I trie to bring in my perspectives and I've already had some good discussions.
Another thought on the whole issue, when it e.g. comes to being sceptical towards or even against vaccines might be explained as an undifferentiated overreaction to everything that comes from the field of big pharma companies. As we know from cases such as CONTERGARN, pharma companies do not like to be held liable for their products. So, a general suspicion towards those players is well justified.
Have you already published an article on vaccination and the criticism brought forward by anti-vaccination people? I have read through some of your blog entries already, but have not found something on this issue yet.
