An Empathic Response - How To Not Take Things Personally:

How well do we really know one another?

Everyday you have a routine which you follow by.

You wake up, you head out of the house, you pass by or interact with the same people and visit the same place to pick up your coffee.
You head to work, deal with clients or customers you may think are completely horrible and after the day you wonder what you did to deserve such a horrible day.

“Why is it me that these people are being horrible to?”

Now what if we reversed this situation? What if you were having an off day, or a bad week and came across your barista, or interacted with new people and weren’t your optimal self?

Is that the TRUE you? Are you that rude, blunt, angry person in your core? No.

Why is it that sometimes we take out our problems or issues on other people we don’t know?

Sometimes we can’t help it. Sometimes we feel so bad that it’s just too difficult to bottle up and hide it away behind a smile.

You may be thinking;

“Yeah but my barista is really something, I mean the guy has never once smiled at me and always throws my change back at me”.

What needs to be done is a removal of the attack on ‘me’ in this situation and the focus on the ‘other’.

When we see people down, or rude, do not think it’s the fault of yourselves, remove the idea that the world is out to get you. Do not think this person is personally attacking you or unwilling to interact with you.

Look into the other, look into their mannerisms, look into their attitudes, look into why it may be that this person is interacting in the manner that they are.

At times people’s actions and responses are unconsciously done so to other people. Once the concentration is placed upon the other’s inner workings and an empathic response is enacted, the personal attack of

“why me? She/he was so rude to me! What did I do to deserve this?”

Will move to;

“I know what it’s like to feel like crap, I hope they’re okay, I truly wish their day will move forward in a direction of happiness”.

Many times we’ll only meet someone once in our lives, and if it’s only once, the least we can do is give off love and constructive energy for that person to move forward.

So next time you’re grabbing your coffee, or interacting with your clients just give a genuine smile and genuinely care for them. Maybe wish them a great day or simply thank them and unknowingly you may have affected their lives, even if it's in the smallest way.

And if it doesn’t, remember that it is not about the attack on ‘me’ it is about the ‘other’.

We are all interconnected in this world, where our energies are constantly in exchange. If we understand that fighting destructive energy with more destructive energy will only bring us down then we can rise above and give love to those who we may not want to give love to, but may in fact need it the most.

The universe is here for us to work in unison.

If you believe that people are against you, and people are horrible, then guess what? That’s exactly what you’ll attract.

If you place yourself into the position of understanding and compassion you will see that these people, like ourselves are just human beings seeking love.

"What you resist persists"

Empathy is a very important quality in our world.
Empathy should be more valued and recognized.
Bright blessings.

It should be :) unfortunately western, capitalist societies holds other values higher on their list. But as individuals we can change that.

You are right and I am very happy I am not alone.
Living in our western, capitalistic societies is not always a pleasure.
We are free ? I don't think so. We do our best to be free but are not entirely.
As individual we need to change and to change for a better our way of living.

Freedom is internal and begins with the unshackling within :) once indivuals change within themselves then society will reflect that change.

I really hope more and more people will change within themself.
I may be dead when it happens, but as long as it happens, the society will become beter.

U are such a nice blogger..Thanks for the story..Following u.

Thanks @blurrylens ! Much appreciated.

My pleasure to have a well wisher like u dear..Thanks

And then Bam! Empathy.

And then.... BAM

Empathy is a crucial quality to human consciousness and relations. It takes some effort to become detached from the ego from time to time ...

Constant repetition and we can all get there :)

Well said, thank you. Often I have to remind myself to be more compassionate and understanding. Working on it.

You are welcome! One day at a time :)

Nice post - I find it very pertinent to experiences in western society.
It reminds me of the idea of victimization of oneself. Also there's a flipside to the victimization, which is trying to be a 'fixer.' victimization draws in negative experience by sub consciously focusing on perceived negative circumstance and trying to be a 'fixer' also draws in negative experience because the relative mindset is that things are 'wrong' and need to be fixed, so the tendency is to focus on how things are wrong and negative.

Yes, so true! Two ego identifications which continually attract negative people/circumstances.

I attended a talk by Eckhart Tolle earlier this year and he made a comment which stuck with me. He said something along the lines of:

Everyone thinks people with big egos are walking around over-confident, believing they're the best. But people who believe they are victims and are attached to that as their identities have egos just as big.

At the end of the day we attract what vibration we give.

Good stuff! I am a Reiki Master and spiritual seeker new to Steemit! The four agreements have been of key ingredients in my spiritual evolution! Let's support each other on our journeys! I look forward to following you and hope you will follow and support me as well! Love from @ascensionspace

Oh awesome :) I'm looking into doing my first Reiki course! Searching for the right teacher. They will turn up ☄

Don Miguel Ruiz is great. Have you read the Mastery of Love??

Yes, just finished it last month actually! I do distance reiki initiations with a self study training course. I'm working on my website now. I'll post it here when it is ready!
