Good morning Steemit

How are you all doing today?

Over here, it's cold but sunny. I think the sun will help warm up our living room a bit eventually.

My poor boyfriend stayed home sick today. Sounds like the flu. So this morning, we both stayed in bed a bit longer than usual. I then got up and started the fire in the woodstove. My boyfriend got up later and is now lying on the couch.

He can't eat much, but atleast he drank plenty so far. He just took a painkiller and I hope he'll be able to fall asleep once that kicks in.

Due to this unforseen turn of events, the car was available to me today, so instead of shopping at the neighbours, I was able to drive over to a regular grocery store this morning. I stocked up on healthy snacks like veggies and fruits. I also bought chickensoup on request of my boyfriend.

This little car trip to the grocery store was fortunate, because I hadn't driven for a quite a while again. It gave me a bit of practice, or atleast it showed me I can still drive.

I hate driving and anything to do with traffic really, but sometimes, it's a necessary evil.

Today is also my boyfriend's dad's birthday. We ordered him a cookbook which should be arriving today. We also ordered me a Michael J. Sullivan book, yay! I haven't read a book in a while, but I'm sure he'll be able suck me into a new story. His Ryria Chronicles stories are amongst the best I've ever read.

I might bake a simple cake this afternoon if things warm up a bit more in the house. My boyfriend's dad said he isn't celebrating his birthday, but I figured atleast he could have some cake, if he hasn't already bought some himself. Though I don't think we'll head over there. My boyfriend will probably have to rest on the couch, so I'll just do a quick visit myself.

Hope you're all staying warm!

Good morning. It is cold and raining here in England - isn't it always? It's a good job I prefer the cold weather.

Today I will be shopping for a new suit and shirt for a wedding I am going to on Saturday. I hate shopping, but needs must.

Meanwhile I continue to run my witness, look after The Writers' Block writers' group, moderate at minnowsupport project as well as involving myself in a couple of new community projects.

I enjoy being busy ^.^

Ooh a wedding, hope you have fun! I don't like shopping much either, atleast not most of the time. Luckily it's tuesday though, so you might not find the shops too busy today! That always helps loads for me.

Sounds like you're busy indeed! Happy to hear you're doing so much for the community, we need more people like that :D

Hi there! What a lovely picture. It's cold here too. I often suffer from flu since childhood, it comes and it goes in the same day.

Thank you! It's my regular header image for when I don't have another picture to share that day :-)

It's a shame you suffer from the flu so often, but good to hear they go away on the same day too!

Ohh! I didn't know about it. I came to your blog for the first time, that's why.

Well, it's still a nice compliment! It's one of my all-time favorite pictures I made and I'm a little jealous of my earlier photographic talents. I let them slip away through the years :-)

Honey and Lime and Garlic mixed up. That and lots of tea and or soups.

Yeah, so far I've managed to give him tea, water and mandarin oranges. Soup will be okay later aswell I think, though I doubt I'd get him to have honey, lime and garlic! Thanks for the idea though :D

Morning @playfulfoodie. Glad you've got some sunshine today. Here's it's raining and very windy. Rain I don't mind but I really dislike the wind. It's cold too. Only 16.5 in the house so I've put the heating on. I don't usually need to at this time of day.

Hope you enjoy your trip to the store. I haven't driven in years as we have everything on our doorstep here and my partner prefers to drive when we go out of town. I prefer to be a passenger and gaze out of the window. But I think I'd be a bit nervous if I had to get behind the wheel again, which isn't good really.

Hope your boyfriend can get some rest and maybe even enjoy a bit of your cake later.

I'm going to be practising making a video. I'm trying to work up the nerve to get on DTube! 😊

Aye, I'm exactly like that. I hate driving, but we try to get me behind the wheel from time to time, so I won't get too nervous if I ever have to drive. It will never be my hobby though.

Ooh how awesome that you're going to make a video! I'm too shy to really do that, though I've often thought about it. Hope it works out well for you :D

Happy birthday to your boyfrnd dad, you can get him a surprise pack @playfulfoodie

oh man, sorry you guys are feeling sick -- hope you can get some stuff to make you both feel better. hope you have a better day today and tomorrow. good morning!

Thank you so much @teamhumble! Luckily, all I have is the cold that won't go away. Lots of people have that this year, but it's not too bad. Glad I'm able to take care of my man ;-)

You're ill all the time, do something with that house! Do you live in a cabin in the woods? :D

I hate driving and anything to do with traffic really

I have it alike. I've been driving for the last time during driver licence exams, and since then I have refused to drive even though we have a car now. I don't even need it. We still live in civilization, metro and public transport right under our noses and shops as well. My parents never had a car, so I just don't have a relationship with it. However, my boyfriend and his parents are making fun of me because of my attitude all the time. They are pretty annoying :D

Our cabin isn't in the woods, it's on my boyfriend's dad's property and catches a lot more wind here ;-)

It's the flu season and many people are sick here, so I guess it was coming. For now, we mostly had the cold.

Yeah, I never really wanted to get my drivers licence at all. I was fine with my bike and public transport. But then, my job turned south and I wanted a way out. Many jobs require you to have your drivers licence, atleast if you want enough chances in IT, that's what you should get. So I got my licence for that and for a few months, it was handy to drive to my boyfriend when we lived apart. We moved in together really fast though, so now, I hardly ever need to drive. The reason I still do from time to time is to make sure I don't get too nervous if there's ever a moment where I don't have a choice. It's still pretty scary for me.

It can be also quite cold in our flat because the windows are leaking and we don't want to turn on the heating much. When I was studying for the degree exams, I put on my penguin pajamas in the morning, which could perfectly replace the blanket and take it off before bedtime. Although going to the toilet is unpleasant, because it is a bodysuit, but it keeps me warm :)

My parents have just forced me to do it. It's part of the general education, they said and that it'll fit into the CV. Well if I don't drive it is like I never got a driving license. I would only have to arrange some more lessons because I wouldn't come to a normal car. The instructor in the driving school can still intervene when you do something bad, but there is nothing like that in a normal car. Your co-driver can get the steering wheel only. So until someone tells me I must drive, I won't sit behind the steering wheel again.

A penguin pajamas? That sounds too cute! I can imagine it being annoying for the toilet though. Thinking about our toilet being in the coldest room of the cabin, I think I'll stay away from bodysuits for now :-)

Yeah, getting a drivers licence is a pretty standard thing to do once you're old enough. I skipped on getting one for about 10 years before my fear got outweight by my lack of pleasure at my job.

I think if your situation ever changes and you find yourself having to drive every week, it'll be nice that you already have the licence. You would indeed have to get a few lessons to refresh your memory though and to regain your confidence, but atleast that will be faster than having to get your licence.

It looks like this:

I just don't have penguin feet, but on the other side, I can hide my hands in the wings. The material is similar to a soft blanket, so I don't use it as pajamas because it would be too warm. There's a zip on the back so you can go to the toilet and don't have to take it off, but it's not too comfortable.

I hope I don't have to when I listen to my boyfriend's stories about assholes on the road, how he avoided collision etc.

Aww it's so awesome and it looks so comfy! I think my boyfriend would love to see me in one of those!

Yeah, we sometimes notice morons on the roads aswell, though usually everything is fine. Most are just annoying, not necessarily dangerous.

I hope you guys get better soon... I never get sick anymore, i loved to get sick back in the good old school days, because it meant i would stay home and play videogames, even with a fever xD

Haha, we were actually just talking about that today. My boyfriend misses those times where he was sick from school and could just stay home and watch tv all day :D

Good morning @playfulfoodie ....

Hope so ...

Good morning
thank you@playfulfoodie
