Getting hired without an interview

in #blog6 years ago (edited)

Yes, I got a job without even having to do an interview. Pretty cool huh? It makes you feel good, like you're some "hot shit" or something lol.

How did I manage that? I already worked there as a contractor for the Windows 10 migration project from October to December of 2018. They knew me and liked my work. They didn't want to do an interview. Not even a phone interview. The company they hire to do the contracting for the tech jobs are the only ones I had to talk to.

I start tomorrow at 8:30am. It's the 12h shift job, which is not too favorable for me. But, I got a job for 3 months at least. I start off the first week or 2 as regular day shift. I might be able to get a different work schedule. I was thinking instead of 10am-10pm for 4 days, I could convince them to give me 2pm-10pm. But they may need a certain number of people for the day, so the 4 hours between 10am-2pm with me missing might be an issues. I will have to talk to them tomorrow when I show up for work.

I also had 2 other job offers, which paid $1/h more, but at insurance companies. One interview was today, and another phone interview tomorrow, but I'll be at work so I'll cancel. Pretty sure I'll stick with the train company, instead of an insurance company.

The insurance company I went to today, it's all too rigid and robotic, everything is recorded and monitored. It's like a technocratic slavery or some shit lol. I've done that type of job before. Maybe where I will go work will be similar, as the previous time I wokred there I didn't work for the Help Desk itself, but as part of the WIndows 10 project, which was pretty good.

Anyhoot, that's my personal news to share with you all. I'll still be working on the KURE site, and to boot will be doing some at work most likely. So I'll be getting paid while coding my site ;)

Have a great day!

Thank you for your time and attention. Peace.

That's cool! I have rarely had competitive interviews :-) One look at my CV and they either feel privileged or... never phone back!

Congrats! Look at positive side in that you can get some more Steem at these prices if some of the paycheck is left over! Will be interesting to hear the experiences!

Yeah? Better to buy crypto and sell if needed? I'll be in doodoo if it tanks more though :/ Who knows where things go in the future with certainty. I see it going up, as the crash is coming... but I can't be sure...

Congratulations, I wish you the very best. Be sure to share more of your experience with us.. okay?

Ok, maybe. I'll try to dig up something interesting about tech support :p

everything is recorded and monitored.

Thats never works in our favor. I used to tell companies that said they were recording for quality assurance that so was I as soon as the agent would get on the line. There was always an uncomfortable silence before they regained their composure.

LOL. Deep state corporate world, ain't it grand!

Congratulations sir @krnel
Thanks so much for sharing your experience and job description.
