Do What You Love, Love What You Do and You'll Never Work a Day in Your Life!

in #blog7 years ago (edited)

The title of this post is said to be coined by the famous chinese wiseman Confucius and regardless of how long ago the sentiment was put fourth in my humble opinion it couldn't represent the truth any closer if it was it's sleezy defense lawyer.

Make Ends Meet or Make Dreams Come True?

It's hard to believe now by looking at my current situation that less than half a decade ago I was a miserable, unmotivated lethargic waste of skin whose largest aspiration was to get high and sit around all day playing video games while living the "easy life" while practically pissing my life away. Looking back on it now I certainly squandered enough time and potential.

When I was a younger lad I truly believed that everyone had a life purpose along the lines of:

  • Go to School
  • Graduate
  • Attend College or University to Specialize
  • Get a Degree
  • Find a Job
  • Locate a Spouse & Marry Them
  • Buy a House / Mortgage
  • Raise Children
  • Save up and Retire

What they never taught us in school was to think outside of societal "norms" or that we were just as capable as anyone to hone in our own skills and specializations. Fortunately for me I realized early in my teenage years that the whole government and monetary system currently in place in North America is a pile of horse shit for lack of better term with it's sole purpose meant to enslave people via fear of starvation or homelessness.

"The American Dream" or whatever you'd like to refer to it as exists as an ideal not for your own benefit, but for those who claim to own the land you live upon. Those who demand you pay them taxes or risk jail. The ones who write the laws and deploy well equipped gangs called "police" to protect their assets, ideals and ultimately control over you.

Human beings are remarkable at exploiting things around them for their own benefit.. I can't help but see that the way we live in Canada and the States is nothing more than a tax farm set up to domesticate us while tricking us into thinking it's the only way.

I've always had a fair sized nihilist streak in me which to some makes me come off as a bit of a dark nutcase. The "truth" that resonates inside my head is that life is absolutely meaningless minus the obvious biological reason which is to mate and replace yourself. Aside from the reasons people give themselves to justify what they figure the meaning of life is at the end of the day it's all just kind of pointless..

We are born, we experience and learn, then die and become memories if we are lucky..

Ultimately You Give Your Existence Meaning

While it took me drudging along the bottom for a while in my transition from taxed tradesmen to somewhat successful self employed freelancer the outcome and future prospects are nearly exactly what one could expect. No one gets further in life by continiosly repeating the same steps that have kept them in their current position..

What is the meaning of your life and what steps do you have to take to get to where you wish you were? It all starts with an idea or goal really. I want every single person on our STEEM network to realize that they are entitled to all the success and prosperity they can manifest in their lives through hard work and determination.

Give your life meaning beyond just breeding and paying taxes.
Find a way to live well doing what you love and be happy.

My life's meaning is to make dreams into reality through code..
What's yours?

I came to this conclusion a couple of days ago and it feels good.
You are good at what you are and that makes everything you do unique.
Great post ♡
Much love.

I appreciate the feedback man. Honestly didn't expect myself to ever make anything out of myself but some how through this mad experience things have started coming together. STEEM has certainly shaped me into a far better individual and allowed me to tap into the potential I'd always fallen short of.

You deserve it bro ♡ we all do. Ive had it working as a slave in a run down country. I haven't made much here but I feel free and hopefully in time things will go good.
Live free and enjoy being yourself.

It's very nice to have the opportunity to choose something you enjoy but for most of us you either like what you do or you get paid :) I enjoy my work for the most part but the choices/opportunities for me to do my work always have some heavy drawbacks and places that have better environments just don't pay... So shoot for the moon but make sure you have your landing pad :)

You have that right. It certainly wasn't a cake walk to get to the position I am in today.. Totally didn't get here without a ton of people supporting / believing in me and a shitload of failure / hard times.

Confucius, eh?

I've butchered the original of course.

Coinfucius, yeah I've heard of him 🙃

Confusedish! :D

Sounds like a plate of something i don't wanna eat!

Such a good reminder to keep priorities in the right place! I want to always live out my dreams to the fullest without regrets! Excellent posts, @klye

Priorites have certainly shifted as I've aged.. It's so weird to think at one point I had so little in regards to plans or self expectations. Steemit has certainly helped me get closer to my final form.

I think we all feel that way and grow in wisdom as the years go by. Yes, Steemit has been quite helpful in so many ways!

Great read, @klye! Good to know that you want to make dreams into reality through code. Any specific dream as of now?

The main focus is getting @tippy fully functional, tested and launched. After that I can release the community version of it to allow others to run their own tipping services on STEEM.

Dream I'm working towards is becoming debt free, furthering my knowledge / skillset and eventually being able to sit back, relax n' take some time to enjoy the incredible journey my life has been.

Great to see how your approach towards life has transformed over time to a broader perspective. All the best for @tippy and for your dream :D

@Tippy

LOL. It parsed the above comment of mine and managed to find commands that weren't intended to be there... Have to look into that bug! XD

That is beautiful thank you klye :)

No need to thank me man. Just telling you what you already know!

Outstanding post.

Thanks for your thoughts and insights!

I'm a terrible writer but sometimes just feel the need to blurt out text and submit it.. Sometimes it's even somewhat readable and sounds like something more intelligent than the rantings of a stoned mad man. :D

Very true great article come check out my page

I did! Welcome to Steemit!

I love @klye.
