LP is the biggest artist of 2018

Music has been in a weird place over the last couple years. Streaming has dominated the platform, over-saturated the market, and changed the way we consume music as a whole. This shift has made it difficult for artists to make a living from their writingS Among those who have fallen prey to the ever decreasing revenue for musicians, a few have persevered. One of these artists is LP.

In the past year, LP has solidified a place among the greatest performing acts. The major way for artists to make money in the constantly changing market is to tour. Tour guarantees a major amount of revenue for performing acts. This is why Artists like Paul McCartney, Kendrick Lamar, and Calvin Harris play so many shows. Just to give you an idea, if you get 1 millions streams on Spotify that only equals about $6000 USD. This isn’t much considering you would have to split that with whoever wrote the song. 

This is what makes LP so unique. This self made songwriter still writes her own music and performs it. Today, there are very few songwriters out there who do write their own content, especially in Pop music. Nothing but success for this Artist so far, having a sold out tour in Europe, playing on Jimmy Fallon, Conan, and James Corden, it’s hard to believe LP hasn’t had major success in the United States.
