BUILDING YOUR OWN HIIT WORKOUT - PART 1 BODY WEIGHT EXERCISES

in #blog7 years ago

HEY Steemit friends!

I just wanted to share with you my HIIT workout routine, maybe you have already given it a go or never heard of it. I find this workout great because you can do this in a gym or at home or anywhere you fancy :).

Why HIIT workouts?

I really enjoy HIIT workouts for so many reasons;

  1. they can be a short/long workouts (depending on how you feel)
  2. great fat burner
  3. you can do them at home or at the gym (wherever is most convenient for you)
  4. bodyweight exercises or dumbbell exercises or even BOTH

Which body weight exercises?

Okay check out some of the body weight exercises listed below that you can choose from;

  • burpees
  • mountain climbers
  • squat jumps
  • tuck jumps
  • ski jumps
  • skaters
  • 1,2,3 tap (moving across the room)
  • dribblers
  • high knee jog
  • butt kickers
  • press ups
  • v-sits

Here are some exercises but there are many more you can choose from but these are the most common and which i find effective.

What next?

Okay now the fun part, you have to choose 4 exercises from the list above and perform the each exercise 10 times, 9 times, 8 times until you get to the number 1 (dont worry example is below).

Once you have chosen them exercises, take a little jog on the spot get a little warm and take some stretches into consideration before you get started.

Wow? sounds intense right? the great thing is you can time yourself or do it without a time and you can go at your own pace.

If you want to make it more challenging i would suggesting timing yourself !!

My example (Drop Sets)

The exercises i picked;

  • burpees
  • squat jumps
  • press ups
  • v-situps

Firstly I would perform burpees, squat jumps, press ups and v-situps.

10 burpees

10 squat jumps

10 press ups

10 v-sit ups

___________

9 burpees

9 squat jumps

9 press ups

9 v-situps

___________

we continue all the way until we get to number 1.

I haven't mentioned a recovery time? If you are struggling then you can always take a recovery in between exercises but you want to make sure you get straight back to where you left off.

What do we need?

It would be a great idea to have a bottle of water, mat and towel with you as you will sweat.

All done?

Make sure you cool down and stretch after the workout :)

Lovin the abs. Shows dedication! Upvoted and followed. Check out my first post on steemit please if you get a chance thank you!

Sounds fun! No weights no excuses. Keep spreading the word. Good work

Nice enjoy throwing these in with lifting if its feeling like a good day. You would think doing these would drain your energy but in fact it does the complete opposite. For a rest between I have heard anything from 30 seconds to 90 seconds do you have a preferred amount? I would think you just don't want your heart rate to drop to low before you pick up again.

As it's a continuous workout see how long you need for recovery in between sets maybe 15/20 seconds - and yes you want your heart rate to stay up! Hope you give it a go. I will post HIIT workout with weights part 2 :)

you got my vote and follow, thats a nice gym

Thanks @infobunny have followed you back - look forward to reading your posts

Love the hustle. It's amazing what you can do with just bodyweight and a desire to work hard, keep on gettin' after it!

Body weight exercise and dumbbell workouts are great . I do that along with a keto diet and 18 hour intermittent fasting and it works great for me.

Your regime looks top class and seems to be working great for you.. Keep it going :)

Great post! I like HIIT because you can get the same done in a fraction of the time.
You look great!

Have you ever tried deadfall sprints? It's where the treadmill is off. You get on and make the belt go yourself as hard as you can for 30 to 45 seconds. Then, walk around off the treadmill to recover for a minute to a minute and a half.
