What happens to your dear bones when you become a dialysis patient?

Eventually you will become ugly like me. But more to that later. Our kidneys does a magical thing, it is a 24-7 powerhouse work horse that functions not only to filter or blood from waste materials that our bodies cells produce, but it also regulates the balance of calcium and phosphorus in the body. So what happens is that when it fails, the phosphorus that we get from foods that we eat, mainly from phosphorus-rich foods like dairy, nuts and seeds, and organ meat plus from crazily phosphorus loaded drinks like softdrinks particularly colas. If you read the ingredients, find the "Phosphoric acid", it is the phosphorus, it weakens the bones.

When phosphorus is high in your body system, it draws calcium from your bones because your parathyroid hormone gets hyperactive, it senses that you must get calcium because of phosphorus so it tells the bones to compensate just to balance the proper ratio in your system. But in the cases of the dialysis patients, these process goes on and on everyday for the remainder of the patient's lives until they would show signs of weakening of the bones.

Dialysis itself contributes to the low calcium in the blood because it gets to be filtered off along with the water soluble nutrients that our bodies needs like protein compounds and blood sugar. That is why they need to eat during dialysis especially if they are using a high-flux dialyzer (The Filter) that do a better job in cleaning the blood compared to the used common types. I haven't learned about that fact until I am a half-blown case of kyphosis and leontiasis, both of which a product of being in a dialysis for a long time.

One factor that contributes to the weakening of my bones is thee aluminum toxicity. I personally attribute it to my body's marked weakening. It is a gradual process that I experienced. At first I had the trouble of getting up from sitting in a squat position until I cannot lift the same things I was capable of lifting until I felt it in my hands. Now I cannot open a bottle anymore, even a tightly closed jar. To give you an idea I cannot squeeze a nail cutter to trim my nails, it is a whole lot of work in cutting my nails. Aluminum itself weakens the bones by blocking the absorption of calcium. Too bad the rice that I ate all these years were cooked from aluminum pots and pans.

That is why I invested in buying some pots that have a special nonstick coating on it to be used for cooking our rice but my father I do not know if he intentionally scrubs it off white (He had done that to three of my expensive pots already). The first one he cooked with higher heat burned the meat, with my special spatula included. So this last one has a scrubbed-off bottom which we are currently using plus a small rice cooker pot also made from I think an anodized aluminum.

My Poor Pot

Eventually I get to develop a rare bone condition that I mentioned above. What worries me a LOT is that the said condition progresses exponentially as I am noticing the changes in and on my face is getting worse as weeks pass by. I do not know or what will happen or if my head will really live up to it's other name, "Big Head" and how big it will get is a thing that makes me bothered as this thing being rare in nature isn't also understood by the public nor any group that I learned has a support for it except Steemit which is the only community in the Internet I had found to include people that helps me a great deal. You can guess whom I am referring to besides minnowsupport. I cannot thank you much.

How often is your dialysis??

Two times per week @immarojas
You know I can take that kind of regimen, I had gotten used to it even though there is still a fright about the needles, but what I am deeply concerned about is the inevitable complications of this condition.

Have you had ECHO? my cousin was on O2 constantly.

To tell you the truth I just want my heart to fail already. I just refuse any tests that won't make any difference.
I can manage without using Oxygen but it would be better if also I can use one even here at home. It will be just an additional expense if I did.

U will need O2 at some point :)
I know about those tests..ive done them too.
we have patients who need dialysis 3x a wk.

Yeah I know, if only I can afford that machine that produces oxygen then I would buy one.
Oxygen really makes a patient feel better, not only for sick people but for normal people too. It has a theraputic effect on the brain. The opposite of depriving the brain of O2.

Too much of it stops you from breathing also :)

Hi crytopie. Were you referring to teflon pans? If yes, teflon is not digestible. I think the best pans are quality cast iron (heavy) or ceramic for non-stick.
Hope you have a good day. . .

The first pans I bought were made of with Teflon coating @susieisms. The one here in the picture has a different coating made with stones that is why I purchased and invested in it. I am also aware about the health hazards of teflon as well.
Thank you and have a great day as well.

A ha ha. I must protest I am not.

Wow. To think that there are people out there misusing their kidneys every single day. Thank you for this well-written read. I will be following you.

Yes @dswigle
Our healthy body is a great gift enough but some people doesn't realize that.
Thank you for the support.

I have done lots of research on how dangerous aluminum is.
I am sorry to hear that it is worsening your condition so drastically.
Most people don't realize how much of a danger it is.
Here is one article I wrote about Aluminum

Aluminum & The Infant Immune System

One effective way to rid your body of aluminum is to drink water mixed with food-grade Diatomaceous Earth.
We regularly drink it around my house. It is good for a lot of things, including strong bones and nails and hair, and killing parasites.
It is especially good at removing toxic metals, particularly aluminum.

You can read this article by the Weston A Price Foundation -- it's mostly about mercury, but go near the bottom and read the part called "A Dirt Cheap Solution."

This is some valuable information @canadian-coconut. I will read it now.
I will also ask your permission if I can link it above, in my post?

I once again thank you for your unending support and care.

Yes, you may link it in the post if you would like to.
