Infinity War was finite fun

I could not make it to the first day first show of the Infinity War but I made it. A piece of advice here if you have not already watch it, carry with you a tub of mixed cheese and caramel popcorn with a large coke, a clear throat and have a strong bladder because you will be hooting and would not want to move from your seat!

Well at the onset, I did read a lot of reviews holding the opinion that each character did not have enough screentime. I personally thought that was alright because each one of them already got their individual movies. The characters were used as a team, non-overpowering the other and that was apt for a two-and-a-half-hour story. In fact, I was pretty happy that we got to watch more of Bruce Banner instead of Hulk smashing everything.

I felt that the characters were paired quite smartly and they had the right chemistry. Tony Stark and Dr. Strange’s arrogance are mirror image of the other and they genuinely complimented each other. The banter of brawn and brains between Thor and Peter Quill was hilarious. The sidekicks Groot and Drax were icing on the cake and appearance of Peter Dinklage was a fun surprise.

Acquiring the Infinity Stones itself was no easy task. Apart from facing the resistance from the superheroes, Thanos had to make the difficult choice of sacrificing his beloved daughter. The idea of a conflicted villain was interesting, the concept of Thanos being on this path of restoring balance is an ironical situation because this ultimate villain thinks he is doing this for the greater good.

One of the highlights of the movie was Vision and Wanda’s love story (even artificial intelligence can love guys!). It was shown quite serenely and I was like ‘Oh no’ when Thanos used the Time stone to turn back time and snatch his Mind stone after Wanda had destroyed it. It seriously made me wonder why Dr. Strange did not use it when he had the opportunity to. Basically, none of the superheroes used the Infinity Stones to stop Thanos, I think they are saving everything for the sequel.

For me the heartbreaking moment was when Loki died and Thor has the realization that he has no family and friends left from Asgard (Hey, by the way, where is Sif?!) Amidst other love lost was Gamora and Vision. By the end of the movie, after Thanos had acquired all the Stones, half of the world was disintegrating including Spiderman, Black Panther and Dr.Strange which was the courtesy of the Soul stone. The cliffhangers are the reason this movie was finite fun, it is so entertaining that you do not want it to end. And now we are left to speculate, does the soul stone have the power to bring back Loki, Gamora and the rest? How will Stark make out of Titan? Who did Nick Fury send the distress signal to? We do have the answer to the last one, its Captain Marvel and according to IMDB Brie Larson has been casted as Captain Marvel for the Untitled Infinity War (Part 2).

A year seems like a long wait for the sequel, we do however have a few new releases which will keep us engaged such as Deadpool 2 and Antman and the Wasp. I am hoping that in Antman and the Wasp they drop some more cookies about the Untitled Infinity War because both the leads are appearing there as well, it has to connect at some point since they are from the same Marvel Universe. To conclude CANT HARDLY WAIT !
