Shared Automation Grid (SAG)

In cases where a trusted infrastructure and privacy is not needed, heavy-duty automation tasks can be off-loaded to the network of buddy instances powered by users with available resources measured in compute units.

According to the Buddy whitepaper, a compute unit is defined as;

...the smallest entity that can be assigned as a node of the Shared Automation GRID in exchange for a BUD token by the instance owner. The specification of the unit is: 2 vCPUs, 2GB of RAM and 4GB of SSD storage.

Tasks off-loaded to the network are run by users who are accpeted as buddy instances whose available resources exceeds this benchmark. There are no need of user interventions as the users' gear with achieve all the required computation, and for each task completed, the resource supplier are rewarded with the Buddy token (BUD). Buddy cares about the resource suppliers too and so, the platform ensures the safety of the suppliers by ensuring that only open-sourced projects which have been reviewed and accepted by the DevOps marketplace curators can be off-loaded to the GRID. Buddy also protects suppliers by isolation of Docker containers.

Some of these tasks that can be efficiently and effectively completed by Buddy's SAG include;
