Ethereum cofounder Vitalik Buterin sent 600 Ether ($1 million) to Coinbase.

The transfer sparked speculation that Buterin was paying off a debt, dumping the coin, or supporting Coinbase's new layer-2 blockchain.

Buterin still holds about $6.5 million worth of Ether.
