Bittrex is being charged by the SEC because it is considered to be operating as an unregistered exchange, broker, or clearinghouse.
However, there was no communication between Bittrex Global and the SEC prior to that notice, Lynch said at the 2023 Consensus Conference.
Bittrex itself operates in the U.S., but is regulated in Liechtenstein and Bermuda, some of the "most successful regulatory systems in the world," Lynch said.
