I've never seen a regular series or resource running on Steemit to continually address this basic need so I decided to do it.

With BTC (Core/Legacy chain only) crossing the $324-34B market cap just today/ the last few hours for the 2nd time in a week -- as of today, BTC (core chain) fully makes up 50% of the total crypto space market cap.
BTC crossed the $334B market cap / 1st time on Dec. 17th, approx. 12:15 pm UST/ or ~7:15 am EST---- and today again just hours ago, at the $324B mark, finding consolidation and support there this last week.
BTC began the 2017 year at about $12.5B total market cap and we have not included the forks of BTC in these numbers either!
Here is the 1 year chart for that, hovering over the start 365 days ago-- when it was at $12.7B:
That math equates to roughly a ~26.3x gain in 12 mths, just for BTC... the CALENDAR year is not over yet!

Nice post Barry! its unreal. Their is so much money pouring into the market and you seen Steem rise? Wow!
I missed the first 3 or 4 mths when steem was like $4 and change but I do remember being here not long after for the days when it was honestly 8¢

yeah I can see the spike at about July 2016 higher then now, lets hope it stay up their and keeps going for all the steemians
