CRYPTO HISTORY: Bitcoin Crosses the $300B Market Cap for 1st Time. BTC is Bigger than McDonald's, IBM, Goldman Sachs, IBM, and Ford.
A series to show how large the crypto currency is, compared to other well known things in the world, to help translate and show value and perspective!
It is a TLDR / Short Form Series, covering ONLY that topic
It is specifically designed this way to keep it short and simple.
People can then search out extra info if they wish, or share this relevant info / company names with people to help show the growth, reality and legitimacy of $BTC/$XBT and cryptocurrency!
I've never seen a regular series or resource running on Steemit to continually address this basic need so I decided to do it.
With BTC (Core/Legacy chain only) crossing the $200B market cap just a week ago for the 1st time (Dec. 5th, 2017, aprx. 1:30 pm UTC time or 8:30 am EST) and with more countries relaxing rules for its use, it is a real thing.
Today a week later (Dec. 12th, 2017, 2:50 pm EST) --- we are literally about to cross the $300B mark JUST for the one Bitcoin chain -- and we are just about $7B off from crossing the total crypto market cap of HALF A TRILLION $$ now
-- meaning $500B.
BTC crossed the $300B market cap / 1st time on Dec. 8th, approx. 12:15 am UST/ or ~7:15 pm EST
BTC began the year at about $15.5B total market cap and we have not included the forks of BTC in these numbers either!

The market capitalization of bitcoin seem to be growing in
geometric progression, $300b is a no mean feat.

A good way of seeing the potential growth would be to compare bitcoin or crypto in general with the total value of gold.
There is still a long way to come.
As of today, depending on which factor is correct for gold...... is it 6 or 8 Trillion.....
We are in the mix at about 1/16 what gold is valued at market cap wise, those are the numbers.
-- the source varies.
Either way, those numbers shows huge potential for more growth in crypto.
If you compare it to fiat value, well... crypto is just like an ant

You used the word Value.
That is subjective and can be defined many ways.
Fiat money by its very nature is gov't backed and completely DEBASED and inflated, having lost around 95-98% of it's VALUE over the years, due to the constant printing of it
I define value much differently now, that my eyes are wide open.
