The above picture shows the bitcoin network fee, it is not a coinbase fee....once owned bitcoin is free to send from coinbase to another wallet, you only have to pay bitcoin network fees. Anyone who believes bitcoin is still used as a form of currency is not facing facts. Looking at the cost per transaction it's astonishing to me that this was once the coin that was considered to be great for smaller transactions. I wanted to test just how expensive a small transaction would actually be. As a result of this incredibly expensive transaction fee sending $1.41 cost me $5.28. A scaling solution was thought to be found with a soft fork but another option seems to be gaining a lot more traction. The hard fork that has already occurred (bitcoin cash) seems to be taking off and some believe can overtake bitcoin in market cap within 6 months. Roger Ver, sometimes called the bitcoin jesus, is very outspoken in his support of bitcoin cash, or as he considers it the real version of bitcoin, and its larger block size which has reduced transaction fees insurmountably when compared to bitcoin. Bitcoin cash overtaking bitcoin may seem unreasonable but it's more likely than you think, with progress starting when we realize there's an issue that needs to be addressed. The bitcoin community and the consumers will ultimately decide which version of bitcoin they prefer, but in the beginning it was said that bitcoin would free us from outrageous transaction fees and would show us a faster better form of payment that could be used by everyone...it seems now that the choice of what bitcoin is the true one is up to the community.
