Choice. Subscription-based streaming services give less choice for the content as they mostly promote their own films and series.

Pirates vs. Fans. The content system has proved itself to be ineffective because of promoting piracy: fans violate the law to see their favorite film or series as they are unable to pay and stream the desired content from their preferred streaming service.

To sum up, the content is expensive, users have little choice, the revenue is not transparent, and what is more, the industry itself encourages piracy. 

Following the White Rabbit...

The White Rabbit project aims at rewarding users for the films and series they stream on any peer-to-peer platform. The White Rabbit technology recognizes content and utilizes the blockchain for the payment between users and rights holders. Everyone gets their fee and everyone is happy.

How does it work?

Ecosystem

There are several participants in the White Rabbit ecosystem:

Users, i.e., content consumers.

Content rights holders and creators provide content and get paid for its distribution.

Partner streaming sites. Content rights holders and creators make an agreement with each other and share the profit for the content streaming.

White Rabbit - rewards all the ecosystem participants with tokens. White Rabbit also offers users a personalized content library — the Rabbit Hole.

Mechanism

White Rabbit has a plugin recognizing the streamed content and offering its users White Rabbit Tokens (WRT) as a guarantee for payment to content rights holders. The smart contract withdraws the tokens from the user’s account and transfers it to the rights holders. If the rights holders reject the tokens (which are kept in an encrypted distribution pool), they are returned to the user, saving the confidentiality.

Users offer their payment for a film or series they are streaming. If there is a preexisting smart contract with the rights holder, 75% of the offered tokens goes directly to the rights holder. White Rabbit gets in touch with the rights holder after a certain period of time. Thus, what used to be an illegal stream is now a legal multiplatform for the content distribution and automatic payments. If the rights holder disagrees or he is not able to enter into a smart contract because of the rights issues, the tokens are returned to the user. The transaction is fully anonymous: neither White Rabbit nor the rights holder can access any information about the token holder.

The Rabbit Hole

The Rabbit Hole is a unique library of personal content where the user can have access to the paid content and even enjoy exclusive materials: extras, director’s cuts and interviews. Moreover, the Rabbit Hole enables users to interact directly with the film creators, enjoy film screenings in VR together, and use other available third-party applications.
