No more Bitcoin?

in #bitcoin7 years ago

Good afternoon fellow Steemonians,

I have just tried to purchase an amount of Bitcoin from two different exchanges litebit.eu and bitonic.nl and both are saying that they do not have enough Bitcoin to sell to me?

Forgive my ignorance as I am a crypto newbie, but is this a common thing to happen, especially to the most popular crypto currency on the market? Could this be down to the network not mining enough coins, the exchange not holding enough of the currency or due to some form of market volitility?

Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Flatrider.

I've never had this with Bitcoin but it has happened when the market was going crazy last week and I couldn't get a couple of other alt-coins I was considering. I'd try a bigger exchange where there are more people selling coins , maybe Poloniex?

That's brilliant advice and I'm going to look into that exchange. I have subsequently had some success at a very poor rate with anycoindirect.eu. Thanks for responding so quickly.

Be careful to protect your crypto. Don't leave more than you need to on third party sites. Think about investing in a hardware/paper wallets which will go further in protecting your funds. Investing in cryptos now means that YOU are more responsible than ever for YOUR 'money' !

Awesome advice and thank you so much.

Has Coinbase "finally" cleaned up the mess from the Th n Fri bitcoin price meltdowns? Glad to see they are "open for business" again. The most important rule for bitcoin traders is "obviously" >>> Don't buy when everyone is tripping all over themselves to get in at ANY price...or when they are tripping all over themselves in a panic rush to get out at ANY price. You aren't getting any...or getting rid of any at times like that..."obviously." :-)

I need to keep my eye on the ball with these things. Thanks Joe.

Finally had some success at anycoindirect.eu and the rate was awful. There's something going on in the market. Thanks for responding so quickly nerdylab.

Yeah I heard of that problem many days ago.. You're welcome mate!

Cheers nerdylab. Followed. :-D

Followed you back :))

Cheers nerdy! :-)

Cheers! 🍻

I see you live in Holland. You can try Bitmymoney.com. I bought Bitcoin yesterday and they did not have a problem. You can also pay with Ideal.

Thanks Bart and that's awesome. I did manage to get some in the end but I'll add this one to the rolodex. ;-) Thanks again.

I heard it is caused from the hype of bitcoin and all alt coins that were being traded last week. Coinbase alone had 40,000 new users join in one day. These companies were not ready for that kinda of volume. But, a lot people made money and a lot of newbies lost money. I think generally the cryptocurrencies are moving up and will continue too with a few dips as a regular market does. I heard there are also new platforms that are opening. I recommend researching ethereum. It is being invested in from many big companies like Microsoft. The great thing about ethereum is that coins will continue to grow with time. Where bitcoin has a cap that will eventually be reached and the value will raise.

Thank you so much for this Jon and when you put it like that, it makes complete sense. I'm going to look into ethereum and larger exchanges moving forwards. Brilliant post.

Sorry for my slow response. I'm still new to posting and getting on social media regularly. But I am glad to give my two cents if it helps! Lol

Glad to help. I am still learning too. There is so much information, and it helps to reach to others in the community.

I couldn't agree more Jon, that's what this is all about.
