This was an old post back when I was just learning of Nicehash and about the buying/selling of hash-power.
Now let me try to explain it more easily so that you and others can understand. I purchased a gaming P.C. so that I can mine on my p.c.. I first started out mining Monero(pool) from some company I can't seem to think of right now but then went back to my bookmarks and found 'NiceHash'.
I was attracted to the site and their pitch right off the bat!
I was new to all of this & so all this mining/mining-pool stuff was new to me in terms of actually doing it rather than reading about it. Nway, I've been mining with 'NiceHash' f0r a few months now with my P.c. via their app. They mine the best alt-coins for me based off of my system and then those alt-coins are automatically converted into BTC...
NOW, here is the best part 0f the section you need to pay attention to as it's the most exciting part of all. First, have you ever heard of 'Burst'? I'm pretty sure you have by now and if you haven't yet got involved, I highly suggest that you and others do. They have an 'Asset Exchange' along with other apps within the Burst-Wallet-client that allows for you to take your Burst & buy/sell the Burst assets. You can say, BUY some shares of an asset and when you see the price of the asset rise, you can SELL for a profit;) Some ppl will be willing to simply hold on to their assets without touching but you can do whatever you please. So, your shares are not locked up like say, Steem-Power(s.p.).
Here is where I'm going with this - https://www.nicehash.com/ also allows for you to BUY/SELL HASH like the Burst Assets W0w right! You can purchase hash DIRECTLY from the miners and SELL! So, same difference, Buy hash, Sell hash for profit! I was trying to purchase hash but my order did not go thru due to the weak pool of choosing and after that didn't work out, I took the money out of their built-in bitcoin wallet they have & used that to trade my Forex-Market since I was indeed@the time ;)

NOW me mining on my computer via Nicehash is another thing! But me allowing my computer to run is basically selling my hash to someone while someone is giving me bitcoins. Kind of like how Burst pays Us to give up hard drive space. OK THIS IS GETTING TOO LONG LOL
