STUDY: Main Differences Between BTC,XRP,ETH, ETC,DASH and Average HODL Expectations

While I was preparing for a presentation on the basic fundamentals of block-chain as well the main differences between the major ones, I have come across to this beautifully done visual graphic by www.visualcapitalist.com This is more of a Crypto 101 however, this kind of visualized graphs will help us teach our friends and family easier.

I have also come across to another interesting survey that has been done by  www.visualcapitalist.com 

Basically the survey tackles into 3 main areas; why invest in Bitcoin?, How long do you plan to hodl? and What is your biggest concern on Exchanges?

Why do you invest in Bitcoin? 

1. It is a world changing technology 41%
2. Long term store of value 22%
3. A trusted source advised to do so 14%

As you can see majority of the people who invest in cryptocurrency is a believer of the technology and longevity.

• How Long Do You Plan to Hold Cryptocurrency?
  1. 1-3 years 40%
  2. 4-6 years 22%
  3. <1 year 16%

Majority expecting to hold their cryptocurrency between 1 to 3 years which is a realistic amount of time and shows me that crypto space is maturing. People realize that get rich over night is 2011-2012 thing now.

  2. High Trading Fees 37%
  3. Lack of Liquidity 36%

I am worried about the security of my funds in exchanges as well. Especially with recent hacks of numerous of ICOs, and reputable exchanges like bithumb getting hacked definitely worries investors. However, as I always say only get on the exchange to trade and immediately withdraw your coins to a wallet that YOU  have the private keys to! Thankfully, some exchanges have introduced their native utility tokens like Binance-BNB or Kucoin-KCS giving us an option to reduce trade fees. Last but not least, unfortunately lack of lucidity is a big issue at the moment. We all know that CoinMarketCap does not reflect the real market cap and it is estimated to be 20x less than what it is. So, a couple of million dollar on a single exchange can eat up the order book either way easily. I believe that with more global adoption and regulation there will be more liquidity!
