Has anyone been burn't on ico's? Any good new coin investment advice?

in #bitcoin6 years ago

Hey everyone. I have been involved with crypto's for I would guess around 4 months now. 4 months ago I was flat broke and nearly destitute, it was make or break for me, literally so I needed to make a plan, and fast, so I did.

I took out a bank loan ( I would never recommend this, this is also not financial advice ) but at this point I really had no other choice it was either this or become a hobo, one of my greatest fears, I could never let this happen. I got around R20 000 from my bank ( $1430 ) and I put it all on bitcoin. Well truthfully a little on bitcoin as it was still high relatively speaking to the alts, I bought a little litecoin, ether, namcoin, ripple, z cash and dash. Well for the first three months I was down, and at this point almost down and out but I had faith in crypto's (I come from a forex trading background) but sadly have done nothing but lose there too. However what I liked about cryptocurrency, is even if the price dropped which it did as I bought high, you still held the currency so I just told myself hold it and wait, Dash then went up substantially as did a few others. I tripled my money in the last month and now here I am. Happy on Steemit and blogging about the tough times and looking forward to the future, which now seems so bright.

The question I have (I feel it is good to make posts as I have this one that ask questions) is have you invested in ICO's if so which ones and as they hit exchanges did they increase in value relative to initial purchase price?

I invested in ATL around two months back when it was an ICO, when it hit exchanges it basically lost around 80% of it's value, but I believe in the team and the product so I will not sell I am holding my coins till they evaluate which I still feel they will.

What I have however learn't from this is to never buy an ICO again rather wait for it to hit exchanges see what it does and make an informed decision from there. Saying that I am now looking for new coins to buy at a low price with massive potential, Which coins do you feel those are? I have had a peek at change bank they seem legit the team seems sound. Also do you know of any guru's on steemit that are experienced with new coins and ICO's that you can recommend I would love to follow them and get a few insights from the professionals?

Keep it real, thanks for taking the time to read this and as usual... Cheer$;)

No i did not buy anything i Till read my self in, when i could just stap in by a bank and good say 1000 euro on bitcoin, 1000 dash, etcetera i would. But doing all this on the net, i do not know enough, but maybe the dutch guy oaldamster can help, he is thinking about a course or workshop for dummys. 😁 that would be wright up my alley! So far i have silver coins and gold. Because they are the only things what always will go up again after being down, and i change them when inneed for money, most of the times with lots more profit.. for lots more than i bought them.

That was an extremely high risk investment.

What was mate ATL? I didnt buy too much still lost 80% but im holding.. you ever purchased an ICO?

Embercoin
I lost every penny i invested
All $25 of it. Thankfully that was all.

Ouch on which ico ? I guess it dissolved ?

Yea it's been getting rather silly with how ICOs have been. As long as you do the research and what a particular new coin brings as far as features, scalability, and solving a problem that exists, you should be fine. It's getting harder to find a legitimate good ICO nowadays. A lot of them is just "cash grabs".

As far as new coin investment advice, I just tell people to invest in what they find to be interesting a has the criteria that I mentioned above. It's important that people educate themselves on how a certain coin operates on the blockchain level to make a good investment.

Thanks for this brother.. So have you or anyone that you know purchased an ico and made cash after it hit an exchange? I don't know of anyone that has. Do you? Cheer$;)

Hello please upvote my post

I am giving away cash in one of my contests why not have a look there you may just get lucky, PS: you actually need to read the post ;) Payouts tomorrow.. Cheer$;)

Questions like that i always flag , wrong?

When he said upvote my post? I am much like papa-pepper in that regard never flag never downvote. Not that its right or wrong its just me, use your discretion ;)

i do not know who said it, but it has to do with the quality where steemit was made for. It is that where we go wrong this person said. And be fair he might as well first had said something about your text. When they say i like your text vote me, than it is something else. Even when he did not read it, he said something. I also do try to help, go in it, with why do that, why not a picture, a story or what ever? why this way? But they never want to know more. I would try to translate with google and all my knowing to help them get higher, but not with a question like that. I find it very disrespectful, my 2 ct. :-)

You are too right hey.. Some folks don't contribute much but we don't worry about em they will learn as they go ;) Cheer$;)

true :-) you are right about that one, i just want to hurry them up
