The three-toed woodpecker (Picoides tridactylus)
Yes! This cute woodpecker has only three toes on feets. Very interesting, but in the summer I have never seen them. For the first time I saw them only in the autumn. Autumn--Winter-Spring, they live here, and then fly away. Males have a beautiful bright cap of lemon color.
The size of this woodpecker is approximately like a white-backed woodpecker, middle-size.
Just like his woodpeckers-brothers, he was not afraid of me. I would even say, he was shy of me. I tried to photograph him, and he was hiding behind a tree. And so we twisted around the tree until he got bored :)
