Novacadian's Nova Scotia Biking Tours - Winter Biking

in #bikewithme6 years ago (edited)

Thought it may be interesting to share some winter biking. For the last couple of years the winters have been more open than normal and has afforded me year round biking, here in Nova Scotia.

Like sailing or flying, one should give attention to weather forecasts with winter biking; yet if one's schedule is flexible, one can work around the weather comfortably. There is a saying round here that if you want to know the weather then wait five minutes.

Yesterday being the last day in the work week, there were some chores that needed doing before the weekend. It had been about 24 hours since a recent storm so the main streets were well cleared. The Camp Hill Cemetary was a bit of a challenge. 😎

First stop the Credit Union to stock up on some fiat...

Then it was on to deal with the government. Having recently reached elligability for Old Age Welfare it seemed like life had gotten somewhat easier. My Cousin explained to me, at my Mother's 95th birthday party, that there was another program that required applying for so as to get into the high cotton, as she put it, of old age handouts. She called it the Garenteed Income Suppliment.

This program is not advertised nor automatic to my knowledge, yet can mean a substancial increase in a senior's benefits. It makes one wonder, if not before, to whom the government is really beholding?

With my application form in hand it was time to pick up some supplies at the local pot store for a new batch of cookies.

The route home was the reverse. The cookies rock!!!

Thanks for your #ridewithme! 😎
