The "This Isn't Grandma's Cookie Recipe" Recipe

There is a friend that told me about a friend they had who had a friend who offered him.... or her.... a cooikie.

They had said that they had enjoyed it and she, or he, asked their friend if they could ask their friend if their friend could tell them how to make such yummy cookies.

Their friend sent along some pics with a brief explaination of how to make his, or her, Yummy Cookies.

If any vegan bakers could suggest vegan substitutes for the eggs and butter, suggested in this person's recipe, please comment below! ✌💛

Anyway, this guy's explanation went something like this:

"First you're going to need to make your blended herbal butter. Well not the first thing exactly. You don't want folks picking branches out of their teeth post snacks, so clean and grind your buds, Homies!

If you have not heard of decarbonization here's a primer. The rest of you skip to the marker below which says "Rant Over!!!"

My child of the 60's status was earned by a hair's breath; my brother having gotten me high for the first time over the christmas holiddays of 1969.

You would think that in all that time, having become an habitual user since then, that it may have crossed my mind to ask, "How does that lighting and smoking of the sacred herb work anyway?"

Well turns out it never occured to me to ask and that it works sonething as follows. The heat of burning is a catalyst which removes a carbon atom from one of the plant's 113 cannabinoids to create THC. That happens in the 240+ degrees fahrenheit range, by my understanding. So we would want to do the same thing for eatables, without any hint of flames. 😎

Removing that carbon atom is called decarbonization.

Rant Over!!!

Sprinkle an ounze of cleaned herb on a baking tray.

Preheat the oven to 220F.

Place the tray in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Expect a smell that could attract anything from a phychedelic painted van to swat armored vehicles. It is the same carbon atom one smells when smoked. Imagine torching 28 grams, Homie! Ventilate wisely!

Set up a double boiler and place a pound brick of butter in the top pot and have enough water in the lower pot that the water touches the top pot. Ensure that the butter does not come to boil. That is not to mean
that the water boiler cannot. 😎

Once fully melted add that ounze of cleaned sacred herb. Dare ya to stir every five minutes for an hour. Dancing to loud music between stirs is one proven approach.

After an hour pour the blended butter into a container that can handle the heat and let it cool in the fridge with the top ajar.

When it comes to the sacred herb all things are relative. This recipe calls for a half of a cup of blended herbal butter, which is about a quarter of the fridge readied butter made with the pound brick of butter in this explanation. That is my measuring technique for this one ingrediant. One less measuring cup to wash. Huh?... huh? 😎

The remaining 3/4 pound of blended fridge readied blended herbal butter can be frozen if you don't plan to use it for some time. My approach is to make 4 batches of cookies from the one pound of blended herbal butter. If a batch does not last you for at least a week then find a new dealer or a different medicine."

They then went on to give the actual recipe...

"Making the Cookie Dough

My recipe is a modification of one found on the net with some small modifications of adding two eggs instead of one and adding no salt, but using salted butter in the following recipe:

INGREDIENTS

1/2 cup pot-butter
1 1/3 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 egg (my mod uses two)
1 (12 ounce) package (2 cups) of chocolate morsels (optional)

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 375 degrees (F).
Mix (by hand) the butter, sugars, and egg into a large bowl.
Combine the baking soda, salt, and flour.
Slowly add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and stir by hand.
Shape the dough as you might pizza dough, covering the entire greased tray.

Stir in the chocolate morsels if you.choose that option.
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until light brown.
Keep an eye on "em, as ovens' heat can vary.

Once out of the oven and given some time to cool my trick is to use a pizza cutter for portion control.

My approach is to nible my way to what feels right for me. That point is very likely a portion of the cut cookies for most of us."
