Where there's property, there's theft!
It is estimated that in Amsterdam every year some 30,000 bicycles get stolen.
I say estimated, because the majority of the owners doesn't even bother to report the theft.
Two reasons for that.
- About 15,000 bikes end up (mostly after temporary use of thiefs) in the many canals that Amsterdam has.
- To keep the city "clean", every day the padlocks of about 160 "wrongly parked" bikes (so, over 40,000 a year) get forced or cut and are taken to a big storage facility of the city. Besides the fact that you'll have to pay a fine and need a new padlock, it takes you a couple of hours to find your bike back in the, on average daily present 9,000 bikes. Not to speak about, even if you'll find it, you'll have to prove it's your bike.
Anyway, I found 6 awesome hacks (and free Tips) that'll prevent your bike from getting stolen.
Hack 1

I wonder how many bikes get stolen in Japan. They use a LOT of bicycles too. Googling! 300,000+ stolen bikes a year in 2013!!!! (Source) I thought it would be much less since "hurr no crime in Japan durr".

There are people who do this for "fun" and using a ladder.

Math done. :) Or as it's more traditionally done, 2 out of 1000 people and 6 out of 1000 people. But we have to consider that a big part of all of these are children and elderly, and that there are way more elderly in Japan, I think, though the birth rate is much lower.
Honestly I would have preferred hack 3 but I don't like snakes, so I will go for the bees (hack 4)

dammm that's quite a big number of the things getting stole every year and quite shocking people don't even report interesting well anyways how about a removable seat and taking it with you everywhere hahah :D
