Autumn Overture in Pamirs
Khorog - a small but locally important town, the capital of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region in Tajikistan. Just across the river are the mountains of Afghanistan. And here is a picture shot on a hilltop just outside of Khorog, in the local Botanical Garden which was pretty dried up as it was mid-November when I was passing through.

"The Botanical Garden of Pamir is located about 5 km from the city center and is known as the second highest garden in the world at 3,900 m From the sign below we learned that the gardens sit on 624 hectares of land of cultivation and with 2,300 varieties of plants, quite impressive, and I began to discover that the gardens were mostly secret - they are a hidden gem in rough mountain terrain of Tajikistan. "
"From the gardens you can see all of Khorog and the Panj River, which meanders its way through the city.With regard to the senses it was a spectacular sight to say the least, but the air quality was equally phenomenal. Fresh, fresh and pure. "
