Record Festival at Counterweight Brewery

May 12, 2018

Over the weekend I stopped by Counterweight Brewery in Hamden, Connecticut with @kirm-it and @susie-anthony. The brewery was having a Record Festival hosted by Redscroll Records. Record vendors from all over the northeast were there to showcase and sell from their collection.

The entire brewery was full of vendors, from the taproom to the brew-floor. I wish I took more pictures. Above you can get a look at the set-up on the main brew floor. Between the stainless steel brew-buckets and stacks of hops, people sort through thousands of records to try and find a gem.

Not only did they have thousands of vinyl records, they also had tons of other mediums as well such as Reel Tapes, Cassettes, CDs and even books. Since the internet came along with streaming and downloads, music like this has become cheap. My friend @kirm-it left with two brand new Dave Matthews Band CDs for only $4 total.

Above you can see a box of Reel Tapes with a few familiar names such as Earth, Wind & Fire and The Bee Gee's. Some of the vendors were selling used records while others were selling records in mint condition. There were albums, singles, sound-tracks, speeches, exercise tapes, you name it. In the box below titled 'Weird Shit', I came across a record called "Sounds of Marine Corps Boot Camp"... Now that is definitely some weird shit. I don't know who in their right mind would want to listen to sergeants screaming on vinyl.

Overall it was a cool event to be held at a brewery. I have a few nice vinyls at home, but unfortunately I don't have a record player, so I didn't make any purchases at the event. Although I left empty handed, it was fun to have a beer and browse all of the different records.

Well, Happy #MarketFriday to you!

This looks like a fascinating place to visit! Hamden is a wonderful little town at any rate! (I am from Connecticut) The record festival and beer go so well together. I love the vinyl, and have even found a working record player at some flea market, but, do I really want to collect more stuff ?

Oh, you know we all do.

Thank you for being part of #MarketFriday and sharing these cool shots of the brewery with us. You are the first brewery and not the last, I am sure.

Please leave the link to your post in the comment section of my post so it can easily be found by others. They will all be in one place. Where else can you take such a quick trip around the globe? Thank you! ❤
