Arguably one of the premiere craft breweries in the UK, London's Beavertown Brewery and their creative director Nick Dwyer are serving up some of the raddest labels in the game. Infusing a "Whimsical Punk" aesthetic the vibrant colors and cool characters take center stage.

In an unlikely journey post art school, Nick landed the full time creative director gig on a chance meeting. Logan Plant the Brewery's owner and founder tells Lagom "Fate, and what it brings you, is an amazing thing. Everything we’ve done in the last five years has been about being in the right place at the right time, and finding kindred spirits.”

It is Nick's style that has helped facilitate Beavertown's rapid expanse on the Global craft beer stage. Inspired by Tim Burton movies and 1950s comic books Nick tells Canspiration "Regardless of my influences and technique, the process involved in the design actually affected the final outcome of the cans. It did seem a little daunting when I first spoke to Ball Packaging Europe about how the artwork had to be formatted, and the colour limitations. In the end I think it actually pushed the designs to their current levels. You have to be crafty and innovative when you are forced to stick to a six-colour palette and certain line widths."

With so many restrictions it takes an out the box thinker to enter the "unique" zone. One of the finer details that make the designs stand out is their matte finish. Cost barriers alone would discourage most breweries from even attempting such detail yet Beavertown puts aesthetics as a top priority and the bet has definitely paid off.

Anyone paying attention can pick out a Beavertown can or six pack amongst the rows on the local shop's shelf. As the brewery expands so does the workload. Expect a ton of new releases in 2018 and you can bet Dwyer's talents will be center stage.
