Third Street Brewing - Belgian Lemongrass Blonde
Another fantastic Friday night at Third Street Brewing in Farmville, Virginia.
We had another big night at our new brewery in central Virginia. I saw a lot of new faces and we had a lot of compliments on the bar, the beer, the music, and the food. Carolina Girl Catering was grilling brats and making a sweet chicken wrap that was outstanding. Live music by Jordan Williams.

Our new release this week was a Belgian Lemongrass Blonde Ale. It is a pale golden yellow and pours with just a little foam that quickly dissipates. The aroma is mostly citrusy and fruity, but there is some soft wheaty aroma, and a noticeable clovey wild yeast flavor. The flavor is balanced, but not in the usually malty vs. hoppy sense of the word. It has its own kind of balance between the lemony citrus flavors, dry cracker grainy flavors, and phenolic clove yeast flavors.
Forgive me for comparing a handmade craft beer to a macro, but people who developed a taste for beer with their first bottle of Blue Moon from Coors will love TSB Lemongrass Blonde. It is less tart than Blue Moon and has a more complex citrus flavor that is bright and lemony, but also has some of the mild, dry astringency of orange juice. My favorite characteristic of this beer is that none of the interesting flavors dominate or disappear as your glass gets lighter. It all stays nicely in balance and you never know what the next sip might bring out.
