Testing a Russian beer: Hamovniki Irish Stout
Never had this before. So here goes the test.
Weird bottle cap let out a loud squeek when opened.
In the glass the colour is what I generally expect from an Irish Stout; dark brown, nearly black. Not a lot of foam (virtually none) in the style of Guinness or Murpy's. The scent is a sweet, almost fruity, but smoky aroma.
Taste-wise it is very fruity and smoky, with a lingering bittersweet aftertaste. The taste is not as mellow and silky soft as Murphy's, but I wouldn't say the difference is a negative trait. This one is definitely a different taste.
What I would eat with it? This one might need a bit stronger aromas, possibly game, bird or moose, even bear. Not many fishy dishes stand up to the taste, but I would personally want to have perch with it.
I've never done a beer test before, but I decided to give it a go after I was asked by @buzzbeergeek if I have had any great beers on my trips.
I might do a second tasting after this. Just gotta drink this one down first.

Greetings, Jaro! I love dark stout beer as well( just had Guinness for dinner yesterday):) I lived in Russia and tried this beer few times, it's all right, but not the best one! Nowadays they have a lot of craft beers, which can offer an authentic taste, you should try some :) Where in Finland are you from? I've been to Helsinki, Turku and few other places and I loved it! Now live in Phuket, Thailand, quite a change of the scenery, hehe! Followed you and upvoted, mate ,

I live in Lahti. Originally from Vantaa, but I've moved a couple times from place to place in Finland and now for the second time in Lahti.
I'd like to visit Thailand some time. In a matter of fact i'd like to visit quite many places around the world but haven't really had the money to go around yet.

I have a friend here, he is Finnish, working half year in Finland and the other half year he lives Phuket with his gf, nice guy! May be you should try too:) Lots of tourists from Finnland as well!

It might be easier if you just tell me what you like and I'll check our local bottle shop if they have it. They seem to have quite a collection of Belgian beers. Then, if I can't find it here, you may send it if you want. :)

Yep, bear has a very strong taste, so I guess a strong beer like this would go hand in hand with it. :)

@gamer00 What an interesting beer. I have never seen anything like it in that bottle shape before. How peculiar... :) I might have to try one of those one day if I ever come across although no idea if I would like it. I have heard mixed opinions on these sorts of drinks haha :)
