BEAUTIFUL HISTORIC "GRAND RAPIDS"

Yesterday was bright and sunny, as I was traveling across the Wisconsin River this colorful tree came into view. The sun was shining on brilliant yellow and orange leaves making it look on fire. I quickly pulled the car over to get a few photo's to share this moment with my Steemian friends!!

This area is a park setting with a clock tower which I previously posted about here. I didn't mention the "Grand Rapids" in that post and will highlight this now. Behind the beautiful tree is a span of river that is called the "Grand Rapids." Before the paper industry, logging was huge in this area, and this was the most treacherous part of the Wisconsin River.

You can read more about this section of river in the photo above. The display was erected to commemorate this stretch of river and remember the historical significance of the "Grand Rapids."
