Outside the Tribal Meme Space: UBI for Non-SocialistssteemCreated with Sketch.

in #basicincome8 years ago (edited)

Many individuals are incapable of thinking outside of their tribe's accepted meme space. If you're an anarcho-capitalist who thinks man-made climate change may be an important issue, as an example, you might be outside the accepted perspectives of your community. If you're not a socialist, but you promote social programs like a universal basic income, you might also be a tribal outsider. I've been thinking a lot lately about these tribal echo chambers we create which, in many ways, form "our" opinions more than we even realize. I won't get into the vitriolic political dialogue we've seen lately, but you've probably seen it also.

What I do want to talk about is a fantastic example of stepping outside the echo chamber box. @dantheman has been posting lately about universal basic income. He's an anarcho-capitalist. For many, that does not compute. They can't comprehend why an individualist is so concerned with society at large. I love it.

Four months ago I wrote a post about how something like STEEM could power a universal basic income. The more I look into the morality of artificial intelligence and automation, the more I think we need to be talking about UBI. I'm very interested in this topic.

So instead of resteeming each one of Dan's posts to my followers, I'll link to them here. All told, it's maybe an hour of reading, depending on how slowly you want to digest the concepts. I think it's highly worthwhile to do so. If the future really is "different this time" with regards to exponential growth in automation and robotic productivity via super intelligence limiting human's ability to provide value to one another, then we better start figuring out real solutions now.

Please give these posts a read, and let's keep the conversation going.

Yeah, all the rage and hate against @dantheman about his post is laughable to me, from minds who can't think clearly, blocked by their attachments, preventing them from envision other ideas and possibilities in the future. I just wrote a post talking about some of those silly objections. Thanks for also bringing this up.

Excellent post! Thank you for linking to it. Voted and commented.

Love to see these ideas thrown around. :)
