My Funny Tour Stories: Car Trouble?!

I joined a Cure tribute band for a month long east coast tour. The band had recently purchased an older airport shuttle.... What could possibly go wrong right?! The drummer they had quit 3 & 1/2 weeks before leaving so I had to step up on short notice and learn 23 songs. We had a show booked the night we were leaving which gave us 2 1/2 days drive to get to Long Island New York from San Diego.

We packed up the bus and went to our SD show. We pulled in to load our equipment and wouldn't you know the bus blew something in the coolant system and coolant was everywhere! There we were ready to leave for our tour and our van is sitting there with the hood up coolant everywhere...haha. During our show and after we had plenty of people trying to help us repair our bus and doing whatever they could to help us get on the road.

So we finish the show, stayed for an extra hour or 2 to repair the bus. Finally the 7 of us are ready to get on the road! Sun is coming up the next morning we are just outside of Vegas and the bus starts overheating... Again... yay coolant system. We get the van towed to a shop in Vegas and the mechanic says no problem it will be ready by the next day. We're stuck in Vegas, doing the math to see when the latest we could possibly leave and still make our first show.

The van gets repaired we are back on the road! We even have some time to spare to make it to our first show... Barely. Not even an hour out of Vegas van starts over heating... AGAIN... Pull over pop the hood to see what the "new" problem seems to be this time. Cop pulls behind us, is really cool, offers help so we gave him a box or Rockstar energy drinks. Lol. He was stoked.

Took the van/bus back to Vegas to the same place. Guy says it's a different problem and would need even more time.

All said and done we spent 2 days in Vegas, had to cancel our first show, rent a mini van and a cargo van and made the rest of the tour with no problems. Well.. car related problems. Lol
