Being a mother or a father, you would know that sensory skills and motor skills are the most important skills in the child's development. One of those sensory skills I focused much on is the tactile development

When my child was still a newborn, I also thought of many different activities to improve her abilities to touch and feel the objects. This kind of books is also my choice to support me in this activities.

I want to share with you some options I used to do with my child when using this book.

1. Tactile play

This is the main aim of this book. You can use this book early when your baby is still small. Because the book doesn't contain many words, just big images and different texture.

You encourage your child to touch this book. Pause for about 15 seconds or more, then tell her/him what it is, how he/she feels.

2. Learn the objects

Each page is illustrated one picture. The parent could help your child get familiar with that objects. This activity I saw is another way of playing flashcard. With the aim to bring your child close to nature and life, you could make a story about all those things that can make relevant to the real life.
For example: you can say "Honey, here is little duck. Your grandmother has many of them. They say "quack quack". Can you hear it?" Or you can simply speak out loud a poem related to that pic.

3. Focus on the Details

One more thing I also pay more attention to is to focus on the details. When my child is older, I would stand by her side and help her to pay her focus on details by clarifying the color, the shape, the character of each picture.

Touch and feel books are great! My little ones also love the books with lots of bright colors. Right now, their favorite is a book with photographed animals. It’s well done, simply and vivid. I can’t wait to show the girls some of those animals in real life! :)

I believed that they would be so excited to see them in real life. ^^

So lovely books!! I love to write and draw for children

oh really? Could u show me one?

Still in my to-do list. Will do my book in future. Like the style of The Little Prince
