9Review book #3: {book for baby}: Pat the bunny - touch and feel book [must-have book all the time]

Among many kinds of books for baby, it's quite hard for me to choose which is suitable for my child. As I told in my early blog, I wanna use this blog to note my stuff related to raise a child. That's also a way for me to revise my memory and to share with other mother!

I would like to review books for baby according to each period of age. But today, I see my baby holding this her favorite book, I wanna say something about it first!

Touch and feel book is a kind of interactive books for baby. Each book is created including many ways for baby to use all of their sensory, such as: to hear, to smell, to touch, to lift and flap... etc. They can explore different textures in one book. They are really helpful to support baby to develop themselves day by day.

Always existing in the list of top 10 touch and feel books on the world is this book.

This classic book by Dorothy Kunhardt is must - have for every child's library. Originally published in 1940, it was the first - ever touch and feel book.

The book is created for preK and for 1-3 years old babies. So, the book is enough small and light for babies to hold it themselves. The dimensions of the book is quite equivalent to my hand. It's really cute. I love it at the first sight.

The book is only 20 pages, but each page would bring your child one new thing. At the first pages, the Author introduce to the baby two friends to make your baby feel really friendly and eager.
The most interesting thing of this book is that you and your child can use it together. The structure of the book is amazingly creative and helpful. On the left pages, there are always Paul or Judy doing something firstly. This is also the guideline for you or your child to use to explore the book. So, if your child is too small to read the book, you can read the story of Paul and Judy, then you guide your child to do it. Or if your child can read the book individually, she/he can enjoy the book themselves.

In the next page, step by step, the book gives your child a chance to touch the texture. Firstly, it's an activity to support the development of baby's hand. The bunny on the right page is made by soft texture. When the babies touch this, you can read out loud: It's SOFT, SOFT, to make the babies recognize what is "soft" and how soft it is. She/he can remember the definition of soft and then practice later in her/his life.

Other next pages are the different and amazing activities for you and your child to interact with. All the things are just in a very small book.
You can think of many other things to do with your child through reading this book. For example, the activities with the daddy is below.

It's really feasible activities because of the close connection between the child and his/her father. She/he touches her/his daddy all the time. So, this is also a way to remind her/him of her/his daddy. This is also another way to support her/his sensory: Scratchy's face. Each time you guide your child to touch the image, it's better to say the adjective word to let your baby know about the texture "Scratchy's face".

Your baby can play the most popular game that most of babies love is PEEK A BOO with this book. The book created a small fabric to hide Paul, then the mission for the baby is to find Paul. Your baby can keep lifting the fabric to find Paul, each time she did well, I am sure the child keep laughing too much. Really interesting, huh?

How about smelling the flowers in the book? You may think: "No way!". But, Yeah, It is, on this book. It's the most awesome thing (to myself) that the book brings to your babies's life. She/he can smell the flowers and enjoy it, share it with you thanks to this book.

Even another small book exists in this book. The babies can themselves lift the flap the other tiny book in this book. Can you imagine it? It's much creative.

And there are so many things for you and your child to explore. I can say for sure that your beloved ones will deeply love it and it will be your child's favorite book like my child is doing.

Give your child a book means that you are giving your child a method to discover the world and bring him/her close to the higher standard of getting knowledge. Nowadays, many people use smart phone, Ipad and other modern technologies to ease the babies and make them busy. They can make the babies addicted to the screen instead of real life. So how about a book like Pat the Bunny. I think it is much helpful and an unharmful thing :)
