Happy TWO month birthday Zara! Derek, Shalom and I enjoyed the photo shoot of our little love bunny. And, once again, I think Derek did a great job capturing Zara’s developing personality in these pictures.

What Happened in Month Two?

The sleep situation has escalated. Check out my last post where I talk about Zara’s sleeping schedule. This week, she’s upped the ante and instead of sleeping all the time, she’s awake all the time. The change in sleeping pattern happened earlier this week and along with it came fussiness, the desire to nurse and be held ALL THE TIME. I love holding my babies as much as possible but this week has been trying.

Yesterday I finally remembered to check the Wonder Weeks website. The website was a lifesaver with Shalom. The behavior doesn’t change but at least you’re prepared for what’s coming and that’s half the battle! So yes, Zara is smack in the middle of a leap. Wonder Weeks describe the ten major mental developmental shifts that happen at predictable times in the first 20 months of a baby’s life. With those changes come what they call the ‘three C’s – crying, clinging and crankiness.’

Check, check and check.

Zara is in her second mental leap that sees her differentiating her environment. As the fourth trimester comes to an end, she’s beginning to come out of the newborn haze. That’s a lot of information to process so I’m sympathetic to her increased need to be loved on. Here’s how I’ve been getting some work done - baby wearing for the win 😉

Thankfully Shalom has been loving her latest toy and will not be pulled away from it without a lot of cajoling. Helpful during the day but tough for naps and bedtimes. Can’t win 100% in anything LOL

Other Milestones?

Zara is rolling over! We were stunned – it’s too soon!! She’s continuing to smile and now cooing. While I am exhausted, I love our late-night conversations 😊 Zara LOVES her sister. She only needs to hear Shalom’s voice and she’s full of smiles and coos. It’s incredibly sweet and reminds Derek and I of much we look forward to watching their friendship and sisterhood develop.

Alright – back to cuddles with both my girls 😉
