Lago di Calaita today.
Just went for a short trip to Calaita Lake today, which lies short from where we stay in Italy.
By getting there you have to pass the neighbouring valley though, and it is first time I went out from our valley after the storm.
It was a shock to see how much harder it had hit the other valley! Trees were lying down all over! There was almost a whole mountain side lain down..
It was very sad to see.
I didn't take any pictures, because I didn't bring my camera and we were in the car, but I did take some pictures with my phone up at the lake.
It was a beautiful day, all the autumn colours with the blue sky and the snow capped mountain mirroring in the lake.
Going up the roads, it dawned on me how much the humans are like ants. As soon as something is broken, they all come out and fix everything! So quickly the roads were cleared and fixed.
But we cannot rebuild trees.
Many trees litterally just broke over on the middle like sticks! Such forces!
But beauty still exist and trees will grow as long as life is. At least there are more trees still standing than fallen.

Yes there are such amazing areas. And you know - I've been to this lake maybe.. 7-8 times or so and it has ALWAYS been foggy with no or just partial view of the mountains. The day I go without my camera is of course the first time I see it clear and furthermore full of beautiful fall colours! Fortunately phone pics are not so bad either :)
But the trees were so sad to see. I didn't take pictures of the worst parts, but I've seen some footage from Veneto (close to here) which are even worse! It's estimated that around 800.000 trees has fallen in those areas and whole mountain sides has been clear "cut". Just hope it doesn't have too destructive after effects...
