ABANDONED BIKE.

in #aswcontest7 years ago

Abandoned Bike. I discovered this abandoned bike outside a retail shop in Montville in Queensland, Australia and realized it wasn't abandoned it the truest sense of the word. Sure, it may never be ridden again but I get the impression it is enjoying its retirement in this picturesque village with moss, ferns and greenery claiming ownership and making this old mode of transport their home.

My imagination worked overtime when I also spotted an old boot behind the front wheel and wondered if a previous owner had to make a hasty retreat, causing this leather boot to take its last step ever.

This is great. Nice Photo!
Once in Christiania (København) I've seen a bike which was literally just dosh and ivy in the shape of a bike. Hillarious!
Cheers!

Thank you @rheteric. It is so easy to overlook these gems in our busy lives but since I’ve been wearing my camera lens almost as much as my glasses these days I am amazed at the number of priceless and amusing objects I would have formerly dismissed.

You are very welcome! That is so true. I used to stray around seeing so many beautiful compositionideas so I decided too to take my camera everywhere. I recently took a picture of a bike in front of a graffiti and I couldn't stop taking great picture after great picture.
Have a great day mate!

Yes, this photography hobby can be very addictive @rhetoric Lipstick and sunglasses used to be on the top of my check list before leaving home but my camera has become a priority (and an extension of my hand) these days and I don't feel dressed without it. (lol) Have you posted your graffiti images yet? I'd love to see them so please tag me when you do. I took a heap of graffiti photos from a coupe of well known alleys in Melbourne recently and am looking forward to sharing the one day soon.

Haha so true.
Even in the worst wethear I'll have my camera with me. You never know, right?:)
I'm looking for a new backpack to fit the camera in so I'm always ready.
I'm looking forward to it, show us these graffiti-pictures:)
Cheers

Will do @rhetoric........ I promise.

Sweet! Just let me know:)
Oh and btw it is rhetERIC, a pun with my name:)

I knew you were smart. I LOVE the use of your very appropriate pun Eric. And I am going to have to watch my 'P's' and 'Q's' or get new glasses cause I am making too many typing mistakes. My grandmother used to say, "More hurry. Less speed." That makes a lot of sense doesn't it? Now.......about those graffiti images. I should have started that task this morning but I encountered a Bandwidth problem in Steemit and couldn't post anything and I was quite perturbed about it all. I'm the kind of gal that gets in a car because I need to go somewhere. I drive an automatic but it doesn't do its job properly because sometimes it runs out of without giving me adequate notification. (Probably if I didn't have my stereo on so loudly I'd hear the warning beeps) I don't think to check the petrol gauge until it refuses to budge. Life just gets too complicated at times. And now, apparently I've got to check my Bandwidth gauge. How inconvenient is that? Anyway, the point I was trying to make is, instead of sorting out my graffiti pics, I wrote a post about my bandwidth problem. I'm hoping it will educate other techno dummies to be educated.

A great example of how nature takes things back, given enough time.

So true @customnature It's the natural form of 'recycling' if you'll pardon the pun.

Thank you so much @thankyoubicycle What a lovely surprise!

What a great old bike!

It's a testament to design that it works just as well as an ornament as a method of transportation.

I agree @winstonalden Some things just need to be obserevd from an artistic view point.

She's too beautiful to be abandoned! I love her curves!

I agree @dswigle She may no longer grace the footpaths with her curvy beauty but she has found a lush green oasis to retire gracefully in. I don't think she is complaining.

How can I deny that? The evidence is clear. xoxo

With the boot I thought someone was on the bike!

Oh no! They had long gone. On to greener pastures no doubt. @old-guys-photos

I had the same reaction. It looks like someone is waiting in the bushes ready to take off . Wonderful shot, by the way!

You and @old-guys-photos have vivid imaginations @jctdesign (lol) But on reflection, those overgrown plants would make an ideal hiding place but as they have taken quite some time to grow over that boot, anyone still standing in it would have become petrified by the time they were discovered. Perhaps you were thinking of your boyish escapades when you needed to escape all those girls running after you and this image bought it all back??????

Ha! I don't ever remember hiding from girls in the bushes. Hiding with girls in the bushes, perhaps (unless that's just my vivid imagination again).

Don’t ever loose that vivid imagination @jcdesign It makes our world much more colourful. 🌈
